You can keep a playlist of recorded classes live on YouTube by sending it through an encoder connected to YouTube Live. First make sure the channel can livestream and you have rights to every item in the playlist; then create a stream in YouTube Studio and connect an encoder. A computer-based setup is the do-it-yourself route. For a cloud option, StreamNeo loops uploaded videos to YouTube while your computer is off.
Before you set up the stream
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube says the channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The minimum age to livestream is 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch. YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started guide has the current platform requirements.
- Gather the source videos. Use recordings you own or have permission to rebroadcast. A playlist on YouTube, a publicly viewable lesson, or a video you previously uploaded does not by itself grant permission to retransmit its contents live.
- Choose how to encode. YouTube supports software encoders on computers as well as standalone hardware encoders. Your choice needs to support unattended playback and reconnecting if the connection drops; verify those details for the specific software or device you choose. YouTube’s encoder guide also names Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming, but that mention does not establish its current India availability, features, or suitability for your channel.
Set up a computer-based YouTube Live stream
- Activate live streaming. In YouTube Studio, complete channel verification and enable live streaming if prompted. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create the livestream. Open YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live, and use Live Control Room to create or schedule a stream. Set its title, description, visibility, and any scheduled start details. YouTube’s interface can change, so follow the labels shown in your Studio account.
- Copy the connection details. In Live Control Room, open the stream’s encoder settings and copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding connection fields in your encoder. YouTube describes the stream key as the password and address that allow an encoder to send its feed. Treat it like a password: do not share it publicly or include it in a public screenshot.
- Load and test the class playlist. Configure your encoder or playback workflow to play the intended recordings in order and repeat them if that feature is available. Confirm that each lesson plays, the audio is audible, and the image is framed correctly. YouTube’s platform guidance supports encoder input but does not prescribe a particular playlist application or automation setup.
- Check the YouTube preview, then start. Wait for the encoder feed to appear in Live Control Room. Review the preview and metadata, then start the stream from the encoder or Studio as your setup requires. Check the public watch page from another device to confirm that viewers can see and hear the lesson.
- Plan for interruptions. The encoder help page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive guidance does not establish that a single stream can run indefinitely. For a 24/7 schedule, check your encoder’s unattended playback and reconnection behavior, and decide how you will restart or replace a stream if it stops.
Choose a way to keep the stream running
There is no single best setup for every educator. YouTube supports both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; the following operational trade-offs should be checked for the particular tool or device you plan to use.
| Approach | What it involves | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder on a computer | An application on a computer sends the playlist feed to YouTube. | Whether the computer and network can stay available, how playlist looping works, operating costs, and recovery after an interruption. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | A dedicated hardware device sends the stream; YouTube documents this encoder category. | Compatibility, upfront cost, unattended operation, recovery, and whether playlist playback is handled by the encoder or another device. No particular model is established here as suitable. |
| Cloud-based service | A service runs the prerecorded-video stream remotely. YouTube’s encoder guide names Gyre as an example of this category. | Check current service terms, India availability, playlist controls, recovery behavior, pricing, rights workflow, and partner terms before relying on it. YouTube’s mention is not an endorsement. |
| StreamNeo | StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos to YouTube, so your computer does not need to stay on. It is the first option to try for an always-on prerecorded stream: any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with the first day free. | One slot provides one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. Check whether your playlist fits the available pooled storage. |
Copyright and other rules for class playlists
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including another live broadcast. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop using the content; if the matched content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also end a livestream. YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams explains these risks.
Check rights for the entire playlist, not only the teacher’s recording. That includes music, slides, photos, clips, and other material embedded in a lesson. If you have licensed third-party content, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.

YouTube’s live-stream terms make the provider responsible for having the necessary rights and following applicable laws, rules, and regulations in the territory where the stream is available. The platform guidance cited here does not settle India-specific licensing, tax, or broadband requirements; check the rules that apply to your content and circumstances rather than assuming that a YouTube workflow answers them.
Monetization is not automatic
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible livestream revenue features for eligible channels. Each has its own eligibility requirements, and YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. A 24/7 schedule alone does not establish eligibility or guarantee revenue. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance for the applicable feature rules.
