But in his October 3, 2026 review, the thumbstick’s orientation did not behave as expected, and Razer had not announced a fix date. At the publication date, that makes the keypad a promising fit for players who will map most controls to keys—but a risky buy if you are counting on the stick for movement.
What the Razer Tartarus V2 Pro is
The Tartarus V2 Pro is a left-hand PC gaming keypad intended to put frequently used commands within reach without relying on a full keyboard. Razer’s product information, as reported by Windows Central, lists 31 programmable inputs, up to 24 configurable keymaps, 8,000 Hz polling, a TMR thumbstick, and analog optical switches with adjustable actuation. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Windows Central’s launch coverage describes the feature set.
In the review, Wilson describes a 27-key cluster with Razer Analog Optical Switch Gen-2 linear switches, textured double-shot PBT keycaps, Chroma RGB lighting, a travel-indicator LED strip, and a detachable USB Type-C cable. The adjustable wrist rest and the thumbstick’s two interchangeable caps round out the physical controls. The review also reports hybrid onboard storage for up to three profiles.
What it feels like to use
Comfortable wrist support and smooth keys
Wilson praised the adjustable wrist rest and the smooth linear key feel. He found the actuation adjustment useful for tailoring how far a key needs to travel before registering, rather than treating every key press as an all-or-nothing input.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Analog keys can do more than trigger commands
Because the keys support adjustable actuation and analog behavior, a press can be mapped to respond progressively. Wilson’s example was assigning W as an analog accelerator in Euro Truck Simulator 2: a light press could produce a gradual throttle input. He also found release-triggered commands useful, since an action can be assigned to the point when a key is released rather than only when it is pressed.
Profiles can work without Synapse running
Wilson reported that onboard profiles continued working without Razer Synapse running. That can be useful if you want to carry a saved setup between sessions without leaving the configuration app open.

The thumbstick problem is the main reason to wait
In Wilson’s tested setup, Synapse did not let him realign the TMR thumbstick’s directional inputs. Moving his thumb toward the monitor registered as rightward movement, while pushing the stick straight upward registered as forward. The stick also defaulted to a controller right-stick mapping, which he found awkward on a left-hand keypad intended for movement controls.
Wilson said Razer was working on the issue, but the review gave no fix date. A contemporaneous WindowsForum summary also described user reports of a 90-degree orientation problem, while noting that it found no official documentation or release note confirming a fix. That secondary report corroborates that users were discussing the issue; it does not establish the device’s current firmware status. The sources available here do not verify whether a later update resolved it.

For a keypad whose selling point includes a thumbstick, that uncertainty matters. If the stick is central to your movement scheme, check Razer’s current release notes or support information before buying, and confirm that any reported fix covers your device and software version.
Lighting behavior Wilson encountered
Wilson also reported two lighting quirks in his setup: the “switch off lighting” timeout left the keypad illuminated while his primary keyboard remained in use, and pressing HyperShift turned off the RGB key lights regardless of the button’s binding. These are observations from one review setup, not evidence that every unit or software configuration behaves the same way.

Who should buy it?
Consider it if you want configurable keys first
- MMO or MOBA players who want a dedicated bank of left-hand commands.
- Players who value adjustable actuation, analog key behavior, or actions triggered on release.
- People looking for a keyboard-and-gamepad hybrid and willing to configure their layout in Synapse.
Wait if the thumbstick is essential
- Players who need predictable, correctly oriented stick movement should verify the patch status before purchasing.
- Owners of an earlier Tartarus model may find that the new features do not justify replacing a keypad that already suits them.
- Anyone deciding on value should compare the current price with their existing keypad and the features they would actually use.
Wilson also suggested that adjustable actuation and release-triggered commands might reduce finger travel for someone with hypermobile joints, drawing on personal experience in his household. That is not a clinical assessment or a guarantee of accessibility for other users.
Price and buying context
On October 3, 2026, Windows Central reported a US MSRP of $199.99 and an Amazon US listing at $199.99. It reported £199.00 at Razer UK and £199.99 on Amazon UK. These are publication-time prices, not guaranteed live prices; check the exact model, local stock, and current price before ordering. The same review reported the earlier Razer Tartarus Pro at $129.99 on Amazon at that time, but that comparison is likewise date-specific.
