Planets that orbit two stars are real, but the confirmed example Kepler-16b is a cold gas giant, not an Earth-like world. Astronomers call a planet orbiting both stars a circumbinary planet. Whether a rocky, potentially habitable planet could do the same is a separate question—and current evidence here points to a modeled possibility, not a confirmed discovery.
What does it mean for a planet to have two suns?
A circumbinary planet orbits both stars in a binary system. The two stars need not be identical or Sun-like, and their combined light at the planet can vary as the stars move through their orbits.
NASA identifies Kepler-16b as the first unambiguous confirmed circumbinary planet reported by the Kepler mission. NASA Science gives it an orbital period of 229 days around its two stars. That means it circles the pair, rather than orbiting one star while the other is merely nearby in the sky. NASA Science: Kepler-16b
Is Kepler-16b an Earth-like planet?
No. NASA describes Kepler-16b as a cold, Saturn-sized gas giant without a solid surface. It is not a place where a person could stand, and NASA’s 2011 discovery report says it lies outside its system’s habitable zone. NASA/JPL’s 2011 discovery report

Kepler-16b is important because it demonstrates that planets can orbit two stars. It does not demonstrate that an Earth twin—or a world with life—has been found in such a system.
What does “habitable zone” actually tell us?
The habitable zone is the range of distances from a star, or stars, where a planet could have liquid water on its surface under suitable conditions. Its location depends on the stars’ properties. Being in that zone is not proof that a planet has liquid water, is habitable, or supports life; those conclusions depend on more than orbital distance. NASA Science: What is the habitable zone?

Could a rocky, Earth-size planet orbit two stars?
It is physically possible in some systems, but the evidence cited here is a climate model, not an observation of an Earth-like circumbinary planet. NASA summarizes modeling of a hypothetical Earth-size world at a suitable distance from the Kepler-35 binary. The model found that a hospitable climate could be possible despite changing starlight. That result shows a route worth considering; it does not establish that such a planet exists around Kepler-35 or that it hosts life. NASA Science: Are planets with two suns habitable?

NASA’s overview also highlights TOI-1338 b, the first circumbinary planet found by the TESS mission, in 2019. It is a gas giant, not a confirmed Earth-like planet. These examples show that planets around two stars are real, while leaving open whether a rocky world with suitable surface conditions has been confirmed. As Kepler project scientist Nick Gautier put it in NASA/JPL’s 2011 report: “We don’t expect Luke Skywalker or anything else to be living on Kepler-16b, but if you could visit there, you’d see a sky with two suns, just like Luke did.” It was a playful description of the view, not evidence of life.
