Yes—if live chat is on and the stream is eligible, Super Chats can work while slow mode is enabled. YouTube describes slow mode as a delay between comments from each user; its Super Chat guidance says Supers are available on eligible live streams with live chat enabled and can be moderated like other chat messages. YouTube’s guidance does not identify slow mode as a reason Super Chats are disabled.
What slow mode changes
Slow mode spaces out how often an individual viewer can post comments. YouTube says the channel owner, moderators, and channel members are not subject to that delay. The setting is in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room under stream customization and “Message delay.” YouTube Help: Moderate live chat.
That is a limit on comment frequency, not a stated ban on paid messages. YouTube says Super Chats and Super Stickers are moderated like other live-chat messages; its guidance does not say they bypass moderation or every other chat control. What must be true for Super Chat to appear
- Live chat must be turned on.
- The live stream and channel must be eligible for Super Chat and Super Stickers.
- The stream must not have a restriction that disables the feature. YouTube specifically says setting a video as made for kids disables live chat and Super Chat. See YouTube’s live-stream restrictions guidance.
Eligibility can vary, so a missing Super Chat option should not automatically be blamed on slow mode. YouTube’s viewer guidance describes a purchase flow where available: open live chat, choose Super Chat, select an amount, optionally add a message, then buy and send. Availability is not universal. Does a 24/7 stream change the answer?
The YouTube guidance cited here covers live streams generally and does not set out a separate Super Chat rule for streams that run continuously for 24 hours or longer. The supported answer is therefore the general one: slow mode itself is not described as disabling Super Chats, but live chat and stream eligibility still govern availability. This is not a separate guarantee about continuous 24/7 operation.
If viewers cannot send a Super Chat
- Confirm live chat is enabled. Super Chats are offered on eligible streams and Premieres where live chat is turned on.
- Check stream and channel eligibility. Review YouTube’s current Super Chat guidance for restrictions that may apply to the channel or stream.
- Check the audience setting. A made-for-kids setting disables live chat and Super Chat.
- Then review chat settings. Slow mode controls the spacing of comments; the cited guidance does not list it as a Super Chat exclusion.
