Add your logo to an OBS scene as an Image source, position it over the video, and move it above the video source in the Sources list. If your stream switches scenes, add or show the logo in each scene that needs it. Then check the encoder preview in YouTube Live Control Room: a correctly placed logo does not, by itself, keep OBS or a 24/7 broadcast running.
Prepare the logo image
OBS’s Image source supports BMP, TGA, PNG, JPEG/JPG, and GIF. For a logo that should sit over footage without a solid background, use a transparent PNG. Keep the file somewhere stable on the computer running OBS so the source can find it whenever the scene is used. See the OBS Image Sources guide.
Add the logo to the OBS scene
- Select the scene: In OBS, choose the scene used for your YouTube stream.
- Create an Image source: In the Sources dock, click +, select Image, create the source, and use Browse to select the logo file.
- Position and size it: Select the logo in the preview and drag its red bounding box to place and resize it. For precise adjustments, use Edit menu → Transform → Edit Transform. Avoid a fit-to-screen transform for a corner logo; it sizes the source to the scene rather than placing it as a small overlay.
- Set its layer: In the Sources list, drag the logo above the video or background source. Sources higher in the list render in front of those below them. Leave it below anything that should intentionally cover it, and check that its eye icon is on.
- Check the composition: Confirm that the logo is visible, legible, and not covering important content in the scene preview.
OBS’s Sources Guide documents source ordering and transform controls; its layout tutorial also explains that source order determines what appears in front of or behind other sources.
Keep the logo visible when scenes change
OBS scenes have their own source layouts. If the broadcast switches scenes, check each scene where the logo should appear and ensure it is present and visible there. A logo added to one scene will not necessarily appear in another.

OBS’s Image source settings can unload an image while its source is hidden to free memory. The OBS guide notes that it may take a short time to reappear after a scene change when this option is used. If an overlay is unexpectedly late, check the Image source’s unload behavior as well as the source’s visibility.
Test the actual YouTube stream
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, set up the encoder stream and obtain the stream URL and key.
- Enter the URL and key in OBS’s stream settings, then start the encoder.
- Check the Live Control Room preview to verify the logo in the outgoing stream, not just in the OBS canvas.
- Test every scene, the video movement, and the audio you plan to broadcast, then monitor YouTube’s stream health.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance recommends testing before an event and monitoring stream health. Its encoder settings guidance covers stream output settings. Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s setup page, so do not leave setup until the scheduled start.

What a logo overlay does—and does not—solve
The logo is an OBS scene graphic, not a special YouTube logo setting. It becomes part of the video OBS sends to YouTube. It does not keep the computer powered, preserve the network connection, stabilize the encoder, or guarantee that YouTube remains connected. A 24/7 stream also depends on those parts of the setup continuing to work.
YouTube’s encoder setup page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that an uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be saved as one complete video. Check YouTube’s current guidance and plan your archive needs accordingly.

Common problems and fixes
- The logo is behind the video: Move its source higher in the Sources list, above the footage source.
- The logo is missing: Check the source’s eye icon, confirm the correct scene is selected, and verify that the image file is still available at its saved location.
- The logo disappears after a scene switch: Add or enable it in each scene that should show it. If it is hidden and set to unload, allow for a short reappearance delay or review that setting.
- The OBS preview looks right, but YouTube does not: Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, then verify that OBS is sending the intended scene using the correct stream URL and key.
- The stream stops during unattended operation: The overlay is not an uptime mechanism. Check the OBS computer, power, internet connection, encoder, and YouTube stream configuration.
