If they do, one incoming feed can be bound to multiple YouTube broadcasts. If they show different content, use a separate stream and encoder output for each. In either case, test both outputs together: their upload bitrates add up, and no universal PC specification guarantees that a computer can handle the workload.
First decide whether the two broadcasts show the same content
YouTube distinguishes a broadcast—the separate live video viewers watch—from a stream, the incoming audio and video feed sent by your encoder. One stream can be bound to multiple broadcasts, while each broadcast is bound to one stream. That makes two different setups possible:

The third case is an example of the shared-feed approach, not a way to make two independent shows from one output. For different scenes, sources, resolutions, or schedules, treat the outputs as separate and test the actual encoder configuration. See YouTube’s Live Streaming API guide.
Set up two distinct outputs for different content
- Create a separate YouTube broadcast and stream for each show. Each broadcast is its own live video; independent content needs a distinct stream resource for each broadcast.
- Configure your encoder to send both outputs. Select the correct stream key for each destination and match each output to the intended scene, resolution, and frame rate. Do not assume that creating two YouTube events automatically creates two encoder outputs.
- Choose conservative settings for each output. YouTube’s guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion and recommends RTMPS. It supports H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio. Use CBR video bitrate and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds.
- Check bitrate against your available upload capacity. Add the outgoing video bitrates for both streams, then allow additional capacity for audio and network overhead. YouTube recommends testing your upload bitrate and choosing a quality suitable for the connection.
- Run both streams together before relying on them. Test with audio and movement similar to the real programming, observe each stream’s health, and keep the test running long enough to reveal problems that a brief preview may miss.
Choose bitrate and quality for each stream
YouTube Help’s encoder guidance accessed on October 3, 2026, gives these recommended H.264 examples:

These are YouTube’s encoder-ingestion recommendations, not guaranteed viewer quality or a promise of uninterrupted streaming. For two separate 1080p60 H.264 outputs at the listed recommendation, video alone totals 34 Mbps. That is a planning calculation; audio and network overhead come on top, and your connection needs enough headroom to sustain the combined traffic. Check YouTube’s current live encoder settings for the codec and frame rate you actually choose, since guidance can change.
Do not infer that one shared feed always halves the computer’s work or network use: the result depends on how the encoder implements the outputs. YouTube transcodes live streams for viewers, including the source feed, as noted in OBS’s YouTube streaming guidance.

Test the computer, connection, and stream health
There is no universal CPU, GPU, or RAM minimum established for running two continuous outputs. The workload varies with shared versus separate encoding, scenes, resolution, frame rate, codec, and encoder implementation. Test your own complete setup rather than relying on a generic PC specification.
- Run both outputs at the settings and scene complexity you intend to use.
- Use representative motion and audio; a static desktop test may not reflect real playback.
- Check the health of each broadcast, not just whether the encoder says it is connected.
- Watch for low bitrate, long keyframe interval, missing audio or video, and starved video ingestion. YouTube’s LiveStreams API reports statuses and configuration problems of these kinds.
- If practical, connect the computer to the router by Ethernet and test again. A cable is a practical way to remove Wi-Fi variability, not a stated YouTube requirement.
YouTube recommends a preflight test and monitoring stream health and messages. The LiveStreams API reference describes status and configuration indicators to check.

Plan for unattended operation and recovery
A 24/7 target adds failure modes beyond encoding: power loss, an internet interruption, source playback stopping, an encoder crash, or a dropped YouTube connection. The cited YouTube setup and health guidance does not establish an automatic end-to-end recovery plan, a minimum UPS, or a computer configuration that will guarantee continuous service.
- Keep the source media and encoder configuration available after a restart.
- Decide how you will notice an interruption and verify that both broadcasts resume correctly.
- Test what happens after an internet drop, encoder restart, and computer reboot before leaving the streams unattended.
- Consider power backup only after estimating your own outage risk and runtime needs; no particular unit or capacity is established here.
