To loop a diya and rain ambience video on YouTube Live, run the finished video through a streaming encoder such as OBS Studio, enable looping on its source, and send the feed to a live stream created in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s player loop only repeats playback for a viewer; it does not broadcast your file live.
What you need before you start
- A finished diya-and-rain video saved on your computer.
- OBS Studio and a reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the quality you choose.
- A YouTube channel with live-streaming access enabled.
- Permission to broadcast the video and every audio element in it.
Make sure the diya footage and rain audio are yours or cleared for live broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, and a match can lead to a placeholder image, a warning, or interruption or termination of the stream. A license may not prevent interruption if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Loop one video with OBS Studio
- Confirm live access. In YouTube Studio, check that your channel can start a live stream. YouTube says restrictions can disable live access; an active restriction cannot be bypassed by streaming from another channel. Its guidance also includes age-related requirements, such as adult presence when someone under 16 streams from an adult-owned account. Check YouTube’s live-streaming access guidance for the rules that apply to your account.
- Create the live stream in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room and set up the stream. Choose its title, audience setting, and other details there. YouTube documents encoder streaming and recommends testing before going live; see its encoder setup guidance.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream and select YouTube as the service. Connect your account if that option is available, or enter the server and stream key shown by YouTube. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share it or show it on screen.
- Add the video. Create or select a scene in OBS, then use Sources > + > Media Source. Name the source, choose the local video file, and enable Loop in its properties. OBS documents Media Source and its supported formats at OBS Media Sources.
- Set output quality and test. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and lists recommended bitrate ranges by resolution, frame rate, and codec. For H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, its listed recommendation is 5–14 Mbps. This is a platform recommendation, not a guarantee that your connection can sustain it. Choose a reliable quality for your actual upload connection, then test and monitor stream health in YouTube Studio. Review YouTube’s current encoder settings for other resolutions, frame rates, and codecs.
- Start the broadcast and verify the loop. Start streaming in OBS and confirm that YouTube receives the feed. Watch through the end of the video and into its restart; check that the image and rain audio continue as intended. Monitor stream health while it runs.
Loop a playlist instead of one file
For multiple ambience clips, add a VLC Video Source in OBS, populate its playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. OBS notes that VLC must be installed for this source to be available. Check the clips’ order and audio transitions before broadcasting. See OBS’s source documentation.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer or home connection to keep the broadcast running, StreamNeo is a cloud option for looping uploaded videos to YouTube Live. Its workflow is to upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the service loops the video from the cloud. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera.

Copyright, monetization, and keeping a replay
Copyright checks still apply to live streams
YouTube states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can replace the stream with a placeholder image, prompt a warning, or interrupt or terminate the broadcast if the material continues. Even if you have a license, ask the rights holder whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist. Permission to use music or footage and successful Content ID handling are separate concerns.
A loop does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams. The platform renamed its “repetitious content” policy to “inauthentic content” in a 2025-07-15 update; generic, repetitive, or mass-produced material may fail its originality and authenticity review. Reused-content review is separate from copyright permission. An original diya scene with rain you recorded yourself may help establish authorship, but it does not guarantee monetization approval or revenue. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Save your own copy if the replay matters
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Keep the original video and make a local recording if you need a dependable replay. The 12-hour guidance is from YouTube Help; a publication date is not displayed, and it was accessed in 2026. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Common problems and fixes
- The video plays once and stops: Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a playlist, confirm Loop Playlist is enabled on the VLC Video Source.
- YouTube does not receive the stream: Check that OBS is connected to the correct YouTube stream and that the stream key is current. If you exposed the key, reset it in YouTube Studio and replace it in OBS.
- The stream buffers or loses health: Lower the output resolution or bitrate to a level your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s bitrate recommendations are targets, not a measurement of your connection; test before relying on a long broadcast.
- Audio or picture disappears at the restart: Watch a full source restart in OBS before going live. Check that the file itself has the expected ending and that its audio track is present.
- The broadcast is interrupted after a copyright notice: Stop using the matched material unless you have the necessary rights and the rights holder has resolved any Content ID allowlist requirement. A license alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
- There is no replay after a long stream: If the broadcast exceeded 12 hours, YouTube may not have captured it. Keep a local recording and original file when archival is important.
Estimate upload time before going live
A large ambience file may take time to upload, particularly on a slower connection. StreamNeo offers a free upload-time calculator to help estimate how long an upload may take. The estimate depends on file size and available upload speed; it is not a measure of live-stream stability.
