Lukas Van Ness had no game-status designation on the Green Bay Packers’ Week 4 injury report ahead of their game against Tampa Bay. Green Bay listed him with a shoulder injury and limited him in all three practices that week. That made him available without a listed game designation; it was not a separate declaration that he was fully healthy.
What was Van Ness’s Week 4 status?
The Packers’ official injury report listed Van Ness as an EDGE with a shoulder injury, limited participation Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and no game-status designation. The Packers injury report and the NFL’s Week 4 injury report agree on his limited participation and lack of a designation, though the NFL report labels his position as linebacker.
CBS Sports reported on October 2 that Van Ness had no injury designation for Green Bay’s Sunday road game against Tampa Bay. Its report says he tweaked his shoulder in the Week 3 loss to Atlanta and was limited at all three Week 4 practices. The Packers’ report independently confirms the shoulder listing and practice participation.
What does “no game designation” mean?
It means Van Ness was not assigned a game-status label on the Week 4 injury reports. It is more precise to say he was available without a game designation than to say the team separately declared him fully healthy: the reports record his practice participation and status, not a medical clearance statement.

Was he confirmed to play?
The reports cited here do not establish whether Van Ness ultimately took part in the Tampa Bay game. A lack of a game designation answers what appeared on the injury report, but does not by itself confirm his participation.
How this differed from his earlier concussion update
In Week 2, the Packers said Van Ness had cleared concussion protocol and was removed from the injury report before the Jets game. That earlier update concerned a concussion, not the shoulder injury listed for Week 4; it should not be treated as a Week 4 medical statement.

Season figures reported before Week 4
CBS Sports reported that Van Ness had 12 tackles, including six solo tackles, and 2.5 sacks through the first three games of the 2026 regular season.
