Executive costs $130 a year, or $65 more than Gold Star, and adds a 2% reward on qualifying purchases plus a range of service offers. Those offers have different eligibility rules, so check the terms and local availability before counting them as savings.
Which Costco membership gets the new perks?
Costco’s current U.S. materials put the promoted upgrades under Executive membership. Gold Star costs $65 per year; Executive costs $130 per year. The upgrade is therefore an additional $65 annually. Costco’s current benefits pages list early shopping, a monthly Same-Day credit and service-specific offers for Executive members, but do not establish that every item launched at the same time. The live list should be treated as current offers, not a record of a single new-benefit launch.
For comparison, Costco’s customer service page describes Executive as a membership that earns an annual reward on qualifying purchases. Its U.S. joining page lists current membership prices; confirm them there before joining, since prices and offers can change.
How does the 2% reward work?
Executive members earn 2% on qualifying purchases at Costco, Costco.com and Costco Travel. Not every purchase qualifies, and Costco’s fiscal 2025 annual report states a general annual maximum reward of $1,250. This is not an uncapped 2% return on every dollar spent. Review Costco’s Executive reward terms for exclusions and how the reward is issued.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The $65 annual price difference gives a simple starting point for evaluating the upgrade: estimate qualifying annual purchases, apply the 2% rate only to eligible spend, and then consider whether you would use the other benefits. That estimate is not a guaranteed break-even calculation: exclusions, the annual ceiling, and individual eligibility affect the result.
What shopping benefits does Executive include?
Earlier warehouse access
Costco promotes earlier shopping access for Executive members. Hours differ by warehouse and day, so check the hours for the specific location rather than assuming the same opening time applies everywhere.

Are there new-member offers?
Costco’s U.S. join page displays a $40 digital Shop Card for eligible new Executive members and a $20 card for eligible new Gold Star members. The displayed offer requires enrollment in auto-renewal at signup and no Costco membership in any capacity during the previous 18 months. The page also separately displays a $65 Shop Card offer associated with applying and being approved for the Costco Anywhere Visa Card with a new Executive membership. These are conditional promotions, not permanent membership benefits; check the current joining offer and its terms before applying.

How to decide whether Executive is worth the extra $65
- Estimate eligible spend. Use likely qualifying Costco, Costco.com and Costco Travel purchases, not total household spending. Apply the 2% rate only to eligible purchases and account for the reward cap and exclusions.
- Value benefits you will actually use. Early access or the Same-Day credit may matter to frequent users; a moving, pet, travel, insurance or auto offer has value only if it fits your needs and you qualify.
- Check the details that can change the outcome. Confirm local warehouse hours, service area, provider rules, order minimums, insurance policy terms and the current promotion.
- Compare with the base plan. If qualifying rewards and relevant offers do not justify the additional $65 for your circumstances, Gold Star remains the lower-cost option.
Costco’s 2025 annual report says Executive members accounted for about 73.6% of worldwide net sales; that is a share of sales, not the share of members or proof that the upgrade pays off for an individual household. Membership fees and Executive upgrade costs also vary by country, so the U.S. prices above should not be applied globally.
