Developed by Mandragora and published by tinyBuild, ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs is set in a repair shop in mid-2000s Tokyo. Customers bring in gadgets, and you take them apart, clean them, replace faulty parts and reassemble them. The fictional devices span consoles, handheld systems, phones, cameras, music players and home appliances; the Steam listing says Atari consoles are officially licensed for the game. Repairs sit inside a small-business routine. The official description includes shop finances, in-person and online orders, and an in-game web browser for sourcing spare parts. That gives the loop more context than a series of isolated fixes, although the listing alone cannot establish how challenging or varied those decisions feel in play.
Is ReStory relaxing or repetitive?
The published reception points to both sides of that choice. Critics praised the satisfying repair work and atmosphere, including the appeal of early-2000s nostalgia. MonsterVine wrote on August 6, 2026, “It’s almost hard to believe that scrubbing down metal frames and twisting screws could be such a pleasant activity.” GameSpew, also reviewing the game on August 6, praised its presentation and balance between realism and entertainment. The main caveat is that the sequence of orders can wear thin. Try Hard Guides said on August 6, 2026, that “the loop can get a bit repetitive and grindy,” and suggested the game is best enjoyed in short bursts. Game8’s August 11 review likewise praised restoration while saying the characters “struggle to keep up.” If the hands-on repair routine is the draw, that repetition may be welcome; if you need a constantly changing challenge or strongly written characters to sustain a game, those reviews identify reasons to be cautious.
Does ReStory have a story?
Yes. Customers bring individual problems, and conversations and choices can affect both them and the shop. The Steam description promises multiple endings and gives examples such as a disturbing discovery on a customer’s phone and whether to help a student confess feelings; those examples are not a complete outline of the plot.
