A report listed Conemaugh Township High School in Pennsylvania as a stop on America Makes’ “3D Printing for Drones” program on October 2, 2026. The planned three-hour experience was designed to introduce high school students to drone technology and additive manufacturing through hands-on design and deployment challenges. The available reporting does not confirm whether the event took place as scheduled.
What the reported drone event involved
M4SNews reported that America Makes was launching a multi-state series of hands-on “3D Printing for Drones” experiences for high school students. Its listing for Conemaugh Township High School gave the date as October 2, 2026, and the time as noon to 3 p.m. M4SNews event report
The described activities asked students to work through drone design and deployment challenges. The report specifically identifies weight, battery management and reliability as considerations—practical constraints that can shape how a drone is designed and used. It does not name equipment models or provide details about the particular exercises.
How the challenges connect to technology learning
The reported format brings two fields together: additive manufacturing, commonly associated with 3D printing, and drone technology. Design challenges can prompt students to consider how a component’s weight affects a drone, while deployment challenges raise questions about battery use and dependable operation. Those are the topics described in the event report; it does not document individual projects, learning outcomes or student feedback.

Regional education context
The event sits alongside broader aviation and technology education efforts in the region, but the available reporting does not establish a connection between them. In a 2025 report, Future Aviation & Aerospace Workforce said Aerium donated $50,000 to Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center for equipment, training and scholarship support. The report listed Conemaugh Township Area among six school districts that could opt to create aviation pathway preparation programs connected with the center. It does not say the 2026 drone experience was organized or funded through that initiative. Future Aviation & Aerospace Workforce report
Statewide, the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network describes professional learning to help educators support drone-based computer science instruction, with its train-the-trainer program set to continue into the 2026–2027 school year. That is broader Pennsylvania context, not confirmation that Conemaugh Township took part. PaTTAN Drones Professional Learning Program
