Okta’s Q2 FY2027 Results: 11% Revenue Growth, 14% cRPO Growth—and What They Do and Don’t Explain

Okta reported 11% year-over-year revenue growth and 14% cRPO growth in its fiscal second quarter of 2027, alongside strong free cash flow and a contribution from new products led by Okta Identity Governance. Those results show continued business growth; they do not, by themselves, verify that the stock tripled, that new products generated 30% of bookings, or that shares traded at roughly 50 times forward earnings. Okta’s earnings releases establish the operating figures, but not those market claims.

1. Revenue grew 11%, while cRPO grew 14%

For the quarter ended July 31, 2026, Okta reported revenue of $805 million, up 11% year over year. Subscription revenue was $793 million, up 12%. The company reported current remaining performance obligations (cRPO) of $2.585 billion, up 14%, and total remaining performance obligations (RPO) of $4.858 billion, up 17%. Okta’s Q2 FY2027 results release defines cRPO as subscription backlog expected to be recognized as revenue over the next 12 months.

The growth rates describe different things. Revenue is already recognized for the quarter; cRPO is a forward-looking measure of contracted subscription business expected to convert to revenue over the coming year. Faster cRPO growth may indicate a larger near-term backlog, but it is not recognized revenue and does not guarantee a particular future growth rate.

For context, in Q4 FY2026 Okta reported $761 million in revenue, up 11%, and $2.513 billion in cRPO, up 12%. Full-year FY2026 revenue was $2.919 billion, up 12%. Okta’s FY2026 results release provides those comparisons. These figures show the reported trajectory; they do not establish what caused any change in the share price.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

2. Cash generation and profitability strengthened

Okta reported $227 million in free cash flow for Q2 FY2027, a 28% margin. For FY2026, it reported $863 million in free cash flow, equal to 30% of revenue. Free cash flow is distinct from accounting profit, so it should not be substituted for operating income or earnings when assessing valuation.

On a GAAP basis, Okta recorded $149 million in operating income in FY2026, compared with a $74 million operating loss in FY2025. The company also reports non-GAAP results, which exclude items including stock-based compensation, amortization of acquired intangibles, acquisition and integration expenses, restructuring costs, and other specified items. GAAP and non-GAAP figures answer different questions; any comparison should name the basis and consider the company’s reconciliations rather than treating the adjusted measure as interchangeable with GAAP results.

3. New products contributed, but the 30% bookings claim is unsubstantiated

Okta CFO Brett Tighe said in the company’s Q2 release that top-line growth benefited from its new-product portfolio, led by Okta Identity Governance. That supports a narrower conclusion: Okta attributed some revenue growth to new products. The release does not state that new products accounted for 30% of bookings, so that percentage cannot be presented as an established company-reported result on the evidence available here.

CEO Todd McKinnon connected the company’s identity strategy to AI agents, saying, “As AI agents transform every layer of technology, every agent needs a trusted identity and clear controls over what it can access and do.” This is Okta’s strategic rationale, not independent evidence of customer adoption, product-market position, or future revenue.

4. FY2027 guidance points to continued growth, not a re-rating explanation

As of August 26, 2026, Okta forecast FY2027 total revenue of $3.216 billion to $3.226 billion, representing 10% to 11% year-over-year growth, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $3.90 to $3.94. The company said its revenue guidance included an approximately one-percentage-point headwind from accelerating the shift of professional-services business to partners. These are forward-looking company estimates, not achieved results; actual outcomes may differ materially.

The outlook offers a basis for discussing expected operating growth, but it does not independently establish a fair share price or explain a particular stock move. A market re-rating is an interpretation of how investors value expected future performance, and it requires dated price and valuation evidence separate from the earnings release.

5. The tripling and roughly 50× forward-earnings claims need their own evidence

The cited Okta earnings releases do not establish the period over which the stock supposedly tripled, whether the comparison uses adjusted or unadjusted prices, or the calculation. A reliable tripling claim needs the start and end dates and a defined price series, including how dividends or other adjustments are handled.

Likewise, a forward price-to-earnings multiple of roughly 50× cannot be checked without a date, share price, forecast earnings or EPS source, and accounting basis. Okta’s FY2027 non-GAAP EPS guidance alone is not a forward P/E calculation. A multiple based on non-GAAP EPS would also differ in meaning from one based on GAAP earnings because the company excludes specified costs from its adjusted measure.

What the five learnings add up to

  • Recognized growth: Q2 FY2027 revenue increased 11% year over year to $805 million.
  • Forward backlog: cRPO increased 14% to $2.585 billion, but it is not revenue already earned.
  • Cash and earnings: quarterly free cash flow was $227 million; FY2026 GAAP operating income was $149 million.
  • Product contribution: Okta credited new products, led by Identity Governance, with helping top-line growth; the cited release does not quantify a 30% bookings share.
  • Valuation: the tripling and ~50× claims cannot be verified from these company results without separate dated market-price and earnings-estimate data.
