There is no published offer confirming a free coffee or breakfast for everyone at Costa, Pret or McDonald’s on Sunday, 4 October 2026. McDonald’s September free-coffee promotion ended on 30 September. You may still be able to redeem an existing loyalty reward or an offer shown in your app, but check its terms and your local shop before setting out.
What to check before you go
- Open the relevant app. Look for a reward or offer already attached to your account, and check its expiry date and eligible items.
- Read the conditions. Some rewards require points or stars earned earlier; a discount or subscription is not the same as a free item.
- Confirm availability. Offers can be limited to participating shops or subject to availability. Public offer pages cannot confirm what is live for your account or at a particular location.
Costa: a free drink is an earned reward
Costa Club members earn Beans on qualifying purchased barista-made drinks and can redeem them for free drinks. Costa’s public page describes one free handcrafted drink after ten drinks; this is a cumulative reward, not a general free drink for new customers tomorrow. Costa also says using a reusable cup earns an extra Bean per drink, so five such qualifying purchases earn a free drink. Check the Costa Club terms for current details.
A separate possibility is Costa’s birthday treat. Members must provide a valid date of birth and agree to marketing communications. The reward can be redeemed through seven days after the registered birthday, requires no purchase, and is subject to availability and exclusions for some sweet-counter items. Costa says Bean-earned free-drink rewards expire three months after issue; Beans expire after 12 months without an app or card transaction. The Costa Club FAQ sets out the conditions.
Costa advertises app-only rewards and surprise Treat Drops, but its public page does not promise a particular offer to every member on 4 October. Check your own app rather than assuming one will be available.

Pret: use an existing Perk, or pay for a discount
Pret Perks members scan their app code when shopping. Ten stars earn a Perk selected from the treats available. Pret’s terms do not establish that a new member can earn and redeem one by tomorrow, so this is useful only if you already have enough stars and a suitable Perk is available. See Pret Perks.
Club Pret is a paid subscription, not a free-coffee offer: it costs £5 per month and gives 50% off up to five eligible hot or iced barista-made drinks each day. Blended drinks such as frappés and smoothies are excluded, and participating-shop and availability limits apply. It does not provide a free breakfast.

McDonald’s: the September free-coffee offer has ended
McDonald’s UK’s cited promotion offered one free regular McCafé coffee per week from 8 to 30 September 2026. It has ended, so it is not evidence of a free coffee offer on 4 October. The offer required an account and app and had age and other restrictions. McDonald’s’ announcement listed Flat White, Latte and Cappuccino at £2.19 each; White Coffee and Americano at £1.79; Double Espresso at £1.59; and Single Espresso at £1.29. Those were prices published with that September promotion, not confirmation of current prices or a live deal.
McDonald’s says MyMcDonald’s Rewards is available exclusively through its app, where customers earn one point for every penny spent and can redeem points for rewards. If you have points or a separate offer in your account, check the current app terms to see what you can redeem. Does any of this include a free breakfast?
The cited Costa, Pret and McDonald’s pages do not establish a general free breakfast offer for 4 October. Costa’s birthday treat may cover eligible rewards under its terms, and Pret Perks lets members choose from available treats, but neither source promises a free breakfast tomorrow. Check the specific item shown in your account and whether the shop can provide it before travelling.
