In der von GamesRadar wiedergegebenen Diskussion beschreibt Layden zwei mögliche Rollen für Microsoft: „be a competitive platform rival in the marketplace with PlayStation, or the biggest game publisher in the world“ – also ein konkurrierender Plattformanbieter neben PlayStation oder der größte Spielepublisher der Welt. GamesRadar berichtet Laydens Argument.
| Strategischer Weg | Vorrangiges Ziel | Rolle exklusiver Spiele | Vertriebsreichweite |
|---|---|---|---|

Sie sollten vielmehr „make the pie bigger“ – den Markt insgesamt vergrößern.
Was bedeutet Laydens Zahl von 22 Prozent?

Er bezeichnete das damals als „not a change to our kind of fundamental exclusive strategy“.
