The store listing gives a planned 2027 release—not an Early Access launch this year—and does not provide an exact date.
When does Detective of the Dead come out?
Actrio Studio’s current Steam listing gives Detective of the Dead a planned release in 2027 and says the game is not yet available. It does not specify a launch day or month. The Steam page offers options to wishlist the game and request access to a playtest. Check the current Steam listing for changes to availability.
A Steam Community hub banner labels the game “Early Access Game,” but that banner does not establish that Early Access is currently playable. The store listing’s release and availability details are the clearer guide to its present status.
What do you do in Detective of the Dead?
You play Alejandro, a detective who has recently been killed and is investigating his own murder in Mictlan, the Mexican afterworld. His goals include finding his killer, protecting his loved ones and saving Día de los Muertos.
Investigate through conversation and clues
The official description presents a mix of conversations, clues, puzzles and mini-games. Alejandro’s grandmother runs a taqueria, where he can cook tacos undercover to draw information from people. The food preparation is part of the investigation, not a separate real-world product or cooking guide.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Explore with Xolo and shape the outcome
Alejandro’s magical dog, Xolo, can track suspects, reach remote places and find items. Choices are described as leading to multiple endings, so the story’s outcome depends on decisions made during the adventure.
How much game is planned?
Actrio Studio estimates about 7–10 hours for the main quest and side quests. That is a developer estimate, not an independently measured playtime. The store listing also describes 15 hand-drawn key NPCs, alongside additional characters for side quests, and an in-game hint system. These details describe the planned game; they are not a report on a released version.

Actrio Studio describes Detective of the Dead as an adventure game blending cozy cooking with an investigation in the colorful Mexican afterworld Mictlan. Its stated combination of detective work, taco cooking, puzzles and a dog companion gives a clearer picture of the planned experience than the “Early Access this year” wording: the current store listing instead points to 2027 and does not show the game as available.
