Claude already has some features that overlap with the personal-agent pitch behind OpenAI Dots and Meta Muse: connected apps that can act on a user’s behalf with confirmation, memory-informed suggestions, interactive AI-powered apps, and expanding workspace tools. But the overlap is not equivalence. Anthropic’s published connected-app guidance describes an assistant that suggests apps in a conversation and checks before certain transactions; Meta and OpenAI describe agents designed to keep working after the user leaves.
Does Claude have an AI agent like Dots or Muse?
Not on the evidence currently available. Anthropic’s own help materials describe Claude as a conversational assistant and explain how it can suggest connected apps when they fit a conversation. Those apps can help carry out tasks, but Anthropic says Claude asks before an app books, buys, or reserves something. The company puts it plainly: “Claude doesn’t transact on its own.” See Anthropic’s Claude overview and its guidance on how Claude suggests connected apps.
That is meaningfully different from the persistent-agent behavior described by Meta and OpenAI. Meta says Muse can continue longer tasks after someone closes the app and return when it needs input or approval. OpenAI describes Dots as always-on agents with cloud computers, connected apps, memory, and scheduled work. These are company-described capabilities, not independent head-to-head test results. The reviewed sources do not show Anthropic announcing Claude as a direct Muse or Dots competitor, or establish that Claude can independently continue the same kind of work in the background.
How Claude’s features compare with Muse and Dots
| Capability | Claude | Meta Muse | OpenAI Dots |
|---|---|---|---|
| How work is initiated | Claude can suggest a connected app when it fits the conversation; Anthropic says memory may make suggestions more relevant. Anthropic Support | Meta describes setting a plan for a larger goal through the Muse app or WhatsApp. Meta | Users set goals for an always-on agent and can define what it may do independently. OpenAI Help Center |
| Work after the app is closed | The cited connected-app guidance describes suggestions and actions in conversation; it does not establish persistent background work after closing Claude. | Meta says Muse can continue a longer task after the user closes the app, then return when something changes or approval is needed. Meta | OpenAI describes Dots as always-on, with scheduled reminders, recurring checks, and proactive background research. OpenAI Help Center |
| Where it can act | Through apps the user connects; Anthropic says app access can be disconnected. Recommendations are not paid placements. Anthropic Support | Meta says Muse can use a browser, fill forms, and interact with services. Meta | Through connected apps and its own cloud computer. OpenAI Help Center |
| Approval and user control | Claude checks before a connected app finalizes a booking, purchase, or reservation. Suggestions can be disabled for a conversation. Anthropic Support | Meta says Muse returns for approval for actions such as sending email or making a purchase. Meta | Users can set rules to ask first, proceed when pre-approved, act without asking, or hand work back to the user. OpenAI warns that Dots can make mistakes and advises checking important details. OpenAI Help Center |
The distinction is not simply whether a product can use an app. It is also whether it is designed to keep pursuing a goal without an active conversation, what services it can reach, and how the user sets approval boundaries. The sources describe different systems and do not establish identical integrations or performance.

What can Claude already do with connected apps?
Claude can recommend a connected app when it appears useful in context, and it may draw on previously shared context through memory to make recommendations more relevant. The user remains in control: Anthropic says users can disable recommendations for a conversation or disconnect an app. The company’s April 23, 2026 help article lists connected apps on Claude, Claude Desktop, and Claude for iOS and Android; installing an app on mobile was described there as being in beta. Availability and details may change.
For consequential transactions, the confirmation step matters: Anthropic says Claude asks before a connected app books, buys, or reserves. That makes connected apps useful for routing a task into a service without demonstrating that Claude is an autonomous background agent. Anthropic also says app recommendations are not sponsored rankings or paid placements.
Are Claude Artifacts or Cowork the same as Dots or Muse?
Artifacts make interactive apps, not a persistent personal agent
Anthropic’s Artifacts feature lets people create and share interactive AI-powered apps, with examples including flashcard apps and educational tools. It is an app-creation capability, not evidence that Claude can independently pursue personal tasks in the background. Anthropic’s announcement says, “Artifacts turn anyone into an app creator—no coding needed.” The same page, updated July 21, 2025, reports that millions of users had created over half a billion artifacts since launch; it does not state the interval covered by that cumulative total. Docs and Cowork expand Claude’s workspace role
Axios reported on September 16, 2026, that Anthropic was integrating collaborative Claude Docs and Cowork tools into Claude conversations, with an initial rollout to Pro and Max subscribers over the following weeks. Axios described Docs as supporting collaborative editing, drafting, comments, and revisions, with exports to Google Docs or Microsoft Word. This is reported rollout context about Claude as a workspace, not an Anthropic announcement that Claude has become a Muse- or Dots-style persistent agent. Axios’s report on Claude Docs.
How availability affects the comparison
Claude’s connected-app support page covers Claude, Desktop, and iOS/Android, but notes that installing apps on mobile is in beta. OpenAI’s Dots help page describes a staged rollout rather than universal access: Pro access in supported markets excludes the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK; Business Premium access is described across supported regions; and Enterprise access is a beta that administrators must enable. OpenAI says it can take several days for access to reach an account. These plan and regional details are time-sensitive, so check the relevant support pages for current eligibility before relying on a feature.

What the Muse and Spotify integration shows—and doesn’t
Spotify announced on September 23, 2026, that Muse could help users play and save audio, build playlists, find podcasts and audiobooks, and schedule playback. Spotify said its service was available across more than 2,000 devices, from cars and TVs to speakers and software services including ChatGPT and Claude. That figure describes Spotify’s service availability, not Muse’s device count, and the announcement does not establish that Claude, Muse, and Dots have equivalent Spotify capabilities.
