I can, however, summarize the organizer’s published information: it describes the awards as recognizing Christian books and says they have run since 2013. The 2027 cycle is open, with a final entry deadline of December 10, 2026.
What are the Illumination Book Awards?
The organizer describes the awards as a program recognizing Christian books from independent and traditional publishers. Its homepage uses the tagline “Shining a Light on Exemplary Christian Books Since 2013”; that is the organizer’s own description, not an independent assessment of the awards’ standing. See the official awards site.
The current category listing has 22 general categories and five Enduring Light categories. The organizer’s homepage describes the program as having more than 25 categories. The rules and schedule below are for the 2027 cycle, so confirm them on the official site before entering if timing or eligibility changes.
Who can enter, and which books qualify?
The 2027 guidelines say authors, illustrators, publishers, and self-publishers worldwide may enter if they write and publish in English. Books with copyright dates from 2025 through 2027 may enter regular categories. Enduring Light categories accept Christian-themed books published since 2000. An ISBN is not required, and a galley copy may be submitted if finished copies are not yet available. These rules are set out in the 2027 guidelines.

The organizer says judges consider content, design, and production quality, with emphasis on innovation and creative expression of a Christian worldview. It describes its panel as including experts in education, clergy, bookselling, and related fields. The rules do not provide independent judging-reliability studies or comparative rankings.

When are 2027 results announced?
The schedule in the 2027 guidelines says medalists will be emailed by February 4, 2027, at 4 p.m. ET, and official results will be posted February 10 at 2 p.m. ET. A virtual celebration is scheduled for March 11, 2027. These are forward-looking dates published by the organizer and may be subject to change.
What can an entrant infer about credibility or sales?
The awards may be worth considering if a book fits a listed category and the entrant values recognition from this program. That is different from evidence that entering will increase sales or establish industry-wide prestige. The organizer’s FAQ promotes credibility and sales benefits, but the official materials cited here do not provide independent sales data, entrant success rates, or comparative industry rankings.
The official site reproduces a testimonial from Nancy Elizabeth Howie, identified as author of Joy In The Journey and a 2019 Enduring Light Silver Medalist. Her thanks to the judges is an entrant testimonial; it should not be treated as independent evidence of market impact or judging quality.
