Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek is a forthcoming Universes Beyond set celebrating Star Trek’s 60th anniversary, with a global tabletop release scheduled for November 13, 2026. Its design aims to bring exploration and consequential choices into Magic’s gameplay through mechanics including Spacecraft, Strange New Worlds and Dilemmas. The set draws on the franchise’s many eras and comes in products ranging from Play Boosters to four ready-to-play Commander decks.
When does the Magic: The Gathering Star Trek set come out?
Wizards of the Coast lists November 13, 2026, as the global tabletop release date. The crossover is timed to Star Trek’s 60th anniversary and brings characters and moments from across the franchise’s television and film history into Magic. Wizards’ product overview and StarTrek.com’s announcement describe the anniversary connection.
How does the set make Star Trek work as Magic?
Star Trek often focuses on exploration and difficult decisions, while Magic’s core play involves combat. Principal Game Designer Gavin Verhey, who led the set’s design, described that mismatch in a Wargamer interview: “The trick is that Star Trek is a lot more about dilemmas and exploration, and a lot less about fighting.” The response, he said, is gameplay that builds more gradually toward later-game features, rather than relying only on familiar characters and art.
Spacecraft power up over time
Verhey says Spacecraft return in the set and are designed to be “slow and power up over time.” That gradual build-up offers a way to evoke ships and voyages without making every Star Trek reference simply another combat creature.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Strange New Worlds rewards varied lands
The Strange New Worlds mechanic counts differently named lands a player controls. It encourages players to develop a broader range of worlds and supports the set’s longer-game feel.
Dilemmas make choices matter
Dilemmas are built around modal decisions. Verhey cited Seven of Nine as an example: her card draws when its controller faces a dilemma, reflecting her drive to gather information. The mechanic gives a recognizable character trait a role in play rather than leaving it as flavor alone.

Wizards says seven signed headliner cards exist, with approximately 250 copies of each. The actor who portrayed the depicted character signed each card. They can appear only in Collector Boosters, and the card itself is in English even if it is found in a Collector Booster of another language. The quantity is Wizards’ approximate figure, not an independently audited count.

According to Wizards, the main TRK set is legal in all formats. Cards in the TRC Commander product and SDS stardates cards are legal in Commander, Legacy and Vintage; individual cards may also be legal in other formats where they were already available. Set-specific Draft and Sealed play uses cards opened from Play Boosters. Check the official product and legality information for updates.
What is not part of the set?
Wizards removed Beginner Box details from its product overview because that product was canceled. Older mentions of a Star Trek Beginner Box should not be read as evidence that it remains available. StarTrek.com’s 60th-anniversary guide also gives figures of more than 50 million Magic players globally and more than 17 million registered Magic Arena players worldwide, without stating a measurement date or methodology.
