At IROS 2026, PaXini presented tactile sensing as a foundation for physical AI, connecting sensors and data collection to robot intelligence and task execution. The company calls this framework PIE: Perception, Intelligence, Execution. Its showcase and a precision-assembly result are described in a company press release; the underlying paper and experimental protocol were not available for independent review.
What PaXini presented at IROS 2026
A Newsfile Corp. press release dated October 3, 2026, and syndicated by The National Law Review, says IROS 2026 took place in Pittsburgh from September 27 to October 1. The release describes PaXini’s exhibit as a product stack spanning custom chips, tactile sensors, data-collection gloves, dexterous hands, and humanoid robots. These event and showcase details are claims in the release, not independently checked against an IROS source.
The point of the showcase was the connection among those components: PaXini argues that robots need tactile information about physical contact, ways to turn experience into adaptable behavior, and hardware that can act on that behavior. The company groups this strategy under PIE.
How PaXini’s PIE framework works
Perception: sensing contact
In PaXini’s framing, tactile sensing lets a robot detect contact and interpret aspects of its physical environment that are difficult to infer from vision alone. The release names the PX6AX series tactile sensors, joint torque sensors, 6-axis force/torque sensors, foot tactile sensors, and full-body electronic skin.

Intelligence: learning from data and experience
The middle layer is the company’s proposed link between sensing and adaptable behavior. PaXini also described a data-collection glove that records tactile, visual, and joint-angle signals simultaneously. The release presents this data and accumulated experience as inputs intended to support adaptation and generalization; it does not establish how well that capability performs across tasks or settings.
Execution: acting on the world
For execution, the release mentions tactile dexterous hands and humanoid robots with integrated tactile sensors. In the PIE concept, these end-effectors and platforms carry out tasks using information from the perception and intelligence layers. PIE is PaXini’s strategic framing, not an independently assessed architecture or proof that every component works together as a complete system.

What the reported precision-assembly result shows—and does not show
PaXini’s release credits a team from the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA), led by Prof. Long Cheng and Xinpan Meng, with an accepted paper on sub-millimeter precision assembly. It says PX6AX GEN3 was the paper’s sole physical tactile data source for the task, and reports these results:
- A 67% insertion success rate under 0.05 mm clearance.
- A 60% reduction in maximum interaction force.
- A 44% reduction in torque.
These figures are reported by PaXini’s October 2026 release. The paper itself, its baseline definitions, sample size, and experimental protocol were not available for review, so the figures cannot be independently verified from the available material. They describe the stated assembly task; they do not establish performance across other tasks, robot platforms, or operating conditions.

PaXini’s collaboration program and event figures
The release also describes PaXini Global Horizons (PGH) as a program for research institutions, universities, and industry partners. It says PGH began two months before the October 3, 2026 publication date and offers funding, products, and data resources. PaXini reports that the program had initiated over 50 research projects. It gives no participation criteria or program terms, so prospective partners would need to confirm current status, eligibility, and conditions directly with the company.
For GEEN 2026 · IROS, PaXini reports nearly 200 scholars, industry leaders, and investors in attendance, and responses from more than 100 universities and research institutions. These are company-reported event figures, not independently verified counts.

What the showcase does not establish
The release describes categories of hardware but does not provide comparable specifications, prices, integration requirements, or independent competitor testing. It therefore supports an account of PaXini’s stated strategy and what the company says it showed—not a conclusion about whether its products outperform alternatives or are currently available to buy.
To assess the products or compare them with other robotic tactile sensors, readers would need details such as sensing modalities and measurable ranges, spatial coverage and resolution, update rate, integration protocols, supported robot platforms, data output, durability, and price. The available release does not supply those comparison points.
