Nomion Games has named Croatian 3D artist Space Meerkat art director of Rush is Real, an upcoming shooter for PC and consoles. The announcement, reported October 1, 2026, also included an initial look at the game. Its proposed visual direction pairs concrete-heavy brutalism with cyberpunk details, while using dense vertical environments to support exploration and loot.
What Space Meerkat says the game should look like
The artist described the intended style as grounded and industrial, with science-fiction elements layered over raw materials and imposing architecture rather than neon futurism taking over. In an interview with But Why Tho?, he summed up that priority as: “Industrial first, futuristic second.”
Coverage characterizes the direction as a mix of cyberpunk and brutalism, with Asian and Eastern European cultural influences. Those broad influences are not a claim that the game recreates any particular real-world city faithfully; Space Meerkat identified specific places as references for different design elements.
City layouts, clothing and architecture as references
Inven Global reported that Space Meerkat named Chongqing and Hong Kong as references for city layouts, Tokyo for clothing styles, and Seoul for architecture. He put it this way: “We will take city layouts from Chongqing and Hong Kong, clothing styles from Tokyo, and architecture from Seoul.” These are the artist’s stated inspirations, not confirmation that those places appear as settings in the game.

How the environment is meant to support play
Space Meerkat said the setting’s dense verticality is intended to have a gameplay role as well as a visual one. Different levels within a large structure could offer distinct loot and opportunities to explore. In the But Why Tho? interview, he said: “The systems and the world don’t conflict with each other — on the contrary, they reinforce one another.” The comment describes the design aim; the reports do not detail how the system will work in play.

But Why Tho? reported that Creative Director Jean Tyulegenov contacted Space Meerkat through Instagram after seeing his work. Tyulegenov described the connection this way: “But when I saw Space Meerkat’s work, it felt to me like he was looking at the world through my eyes. Perhaps that’s why our collaboration turned out to be so natural.”

Inven Global’s October 2, 2026 report said Space Meerkat had more than 100,000 Instagram followers at the time; that is a dated figure, not a live count. The same report says he creates CGI and science-fiction worlds in Blender, studied film and multimedia, and previously worked in the film industry.
