These are individual accounts, not a representative poll or a district-wide ranking of priorities.
What concerns did residents raise?
Everyday costs and housing
Tom, a Scarborough resident interviewed near Kennedy Station, described affordability as a pressure that reaches beyond rent. “Just going to the grocery store or buying necessities is so expensive that it’s almost harder than sometimes paying your rent, and it just keeps going up,” he said.
Housing also meant homelessness to Alex, another resident interviewed at the station. “There’s a lot of homelessness, so I’m just looking for the candidate that would help the best to solve that issue around Toronto.” The interview captures Alex’s concern; it does not establish how common that view is across Scarborough.
TTC reliability and delays
Abir, a transit rider, described the effect a Line 2 disruption can have on a work trip: “If I’m going for work, and for some reason there is an issue on Line Two, it takes forever to reach work.” Priya said a bus route toward Midland Avenue regularly faced delays of 20 to 30 minutes. These are riders’ accounts, not independently verified service statistics.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Construction and congestion
Priya also linked delays to construction: “There are a lot of delays because of the construction, so that is the main issue.” That is her explanation of what she experiences, not a measured finding about construction’s share of traffic or TTC delays.
How do those accounts compare with survey findings?
Separate surveys provide broader context, but neither is a representative poll of the residents interviewed near Kennedy Station.

| Survey | Finding | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| City of Toronto / Ipsos, 2025 | 25% named housing as the leading local or municipal issue needing attention; 20% named transportation. Among Scarborough respondents, 22% named housing. | A city survey conducted in 2025, not a poll of 2026 interviewees. |
| Ipsos for TRREB, 2026 | 85% expressed concern about housing affordability, and 69% said it would affect their municipal vote choice. | An online panel survey of 1,712 adults in the GTA and Barrie, fielded August 27 to September 9, 2026, with quotas and weighting. The reported figures are not Scarborough-specific. |
The numbers point to housing and transportation as important issues in wider surveys, but the populations, dates and methods differ. They should not be used to claim that the interviewed residents represent voters across Scarborough.
What is the current status of Scarborough transit expansion?
In April 2026, Toronto City Council named the Scarborough East Rapid Transit Line its top transit expansion priority that had not received federal and provincial funding commitments. Council added $10 million to the city’s 2026 transit expansion capital budget to advance the line to 30 percent design. That is a city-funded design step; it is not a commitment from other governments, full project funding or a completion date. Read the Council decision.

How can voters assess candidates’ answers?
Residents’ concerns become useful tests of a platform when candidates explain what they would do, how it would work and what authority or funding it requires. Look for specifics on:
- Housing affordability and supply, alongside the proposed response to homelessness.
- TTC reliability, accessibility and affordability, including how the candidate would address the disruptions riders describe.
- Construction-related traffic and disruption, with a clear distinction between what the city can manage and what depends on other agencies.
- Scarborough transit expansion: project design, delivery timetable, funding and the status of commitments sought from provincial and federal governments.
TTCriders’ candidate transit survey directory organizes candidate responses to 18 questions on service, accessibility, affordability, safety and TTC autonomy, including sections for Scarborough wards 20 through 25. TTCriders is an advocacy organization; its questionnaire is one way to compare candidate positions, not an independent assessment of whether a service plan is workable.
