The Neuron’s Grant Harvey published 13 AI workflow ideas for September 16–30, 2026. The most useful thread running through them is to make AI work easier to check: constrain decisions, test prompts against difficult cases, keep reusable instructions current, and send uncertain or consequential results to a person or a stronger model.

This is a digest of the ideas, not a product review or measured comparison. The examples below describe recommendations and demonstrations as reported by The Neuron; they do not establish current product features, pricing, or performance guarantees.

September 16: Add confidence thresholds to agent decisions

For a task with a known set of possible answers, ask the model for a choice from that set and a confidence score. Route low-confidence decisions to a person or a stronger model instead of letting the agent proceed automatically.

The Neuron’s example uses 0.85 as an escalation threshold. That is an illustrative setting, not a validated universal cutoff, and requesting a confidence score does not by itself calibrate a general-purpose model. Choose a threshold for the consequences of the task, then check how often the system’s high-confidence answers are actually right.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

September 17: Turn every edit into a reusable rule

When you revise an AI-generated draft, compare your version with the model’s. Keep changes that reveal a repeatable preference—such as a voice, structure, or content rule—and leave out one-off factual corrections that are unlikely to help with the next assignment.

  • Voice: recurring preferences about tone or wording.
  • Structure: recurring preferences about order, format, or level of detail.
  • Content: recurring inclusions, exclusions, or treatment of evidence.

Every’s Katie Parrott is associated in the digest with the Compound Writing framing, which also mentions an open plugin. Treat the plugin reference as the article’s description, not confirmation of current availability. Review saved guidance periodically: accumulated rules can become outdated or contradict one another.

September 18: Stress-test a prompt before users do

A prompt that works on a clean example may fail when a request is vague, instructions conflict, information is missing, or the conversation gets long. Test those cases before relying on the prompt in a real workflow. Define what a passing answer must do, then check each simulated conversation against those criteria.

The Neuron describes Respan Prompt Simulations as a tool for generating scenarios and running multi-turn tests. That is the digest’s account, not independently verified current feature documentation. The underlying practice does not depend on a particular tool: write down realistic failure cases and assess results against explicit pass/fail criteria.

September 20: Use Jev when the answer is a choice, not an essay

For bounded tasks—classification, scoring, yes/no judgments, or selecting from a fixed list—a tightly specified output can be easier to process than open-ended prose. The Neuron describes TypeSafe’s Jev as intended for these kinds of decisions, with a general assistant reserved for ambiguous exceptions.

Choose a bounded workflow when the answer options and decision rules are clear. Keep a route for cases that do not fit the schema rather than forcing every input into a misleading category. The digest reports a developer demonstration involving 500 emails, but that is an example attributed to the publication, not a standardized benchmark or a promise of production performance.

September 21: Make AI automation safe to retry

Retries are risky when an automation can send a message, create a record, or otherwise repeat a real-world action. Before acting, check whether an earlier attempt already succeeded; use a stable identifier to recognize the same work, then record completion so a later run can detect it.

  1. Assign or preserve a stable ID for the item being processed.
  2. Check the destination, data table, or database for a completed action with that ID.
  3. If no completed action exists, perform the action and record its result and ID.
  4. If an earlier success is found, skip the duplicate action and report the existing result.

The digest gives an n8n-style sequence using a data table, database, or destination check. The exact implementation depends on the system and on whether the destination supports reliable deduplication; a check alone cannot prevent duplicates if concurrent runs can both pass it before either records success.

September 22: Don’t compact an agent’s context just because you’re taking a break

The Neuron advises against manually invoking /compact simply because a session is paused. Manual compaction triggers summarization and, according to the digest, can cost useful work in long sessions. Its recommendation is to let the harness compact at its tuned threshold and use manual compaction when context pressure makes it necessary.

This is an attributed workflow recommendation, not a comparative measurement of compaction strategies. The right choice depends on the particular harness, how much context remains, and whether the session is at risk of losing details it still needs.

September 23: Build a two-tier model stack

Use a stronger model where judgment has the most leverage—planning, defining acceptance criteria, and reviewing—and delegate clearly bounded implementation tasks to cheaper models or independent agents where appropriate. Parallel work is most useful when tasks can proceed without waiting on one another.

  1. Have the planning stage define scope, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
  2. Split implementation into tasks with clear inputs and expected outputs.
  3. Delegate independent tasks, then recombine their results.
  4. Review the combined work for correctness, security, and omissions against the criteria.

This approach can add coordination and review work; it is not automatically cheaper or better for every task. The digest supplies no current prices or measured cost comparison.

September 24: Fan out research, then funnel it back down

For a large question, divide research into independent lanes and require each lane to return information in the same shape. A useful shared format includes claims, evidence, caveats, source links, and confidence. A reviewer can then remove duplicates, challenge weak support, flag conflicts, and rank the findings before synthesis.

Parallel research helps only if the branches are genuinely independent and the final reviewer checks source quality rather than merely combining summaries. Where sources disagree, preserve the conflict and explain what each source supports instead of smoothing it into a single claim.

September 25: Clean out conflicting AI instructions

When an instruction set has grown large, ask for an inventory of duplicated, conflicting, or outdated rules. Require references to the relevant files and short excerpts so a person can verify each finding. Then propose which rules to keep, archive, or rewrite before changing anything.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

The digest links overgrown instructions with muddled drafts as an anecdotal example. A smaller, traceable set of rules is easier to maintain, but pruning should preserve guidance that improves recurring work; test changes against a familiar task rather than assuming shorter instructions are always better.

September 27: Run your product team like a research lab

Separate exploration from product execution: try several approaches, select promising ones for real work, and harden the approaches people continue to use. This lets a team learn from practical use without treating every experiment as a product-ready workflow.

The digest describes Every’s KateBench experiment and says Dan Shipper reported that it cut remaining editing work by 12% month over month. That is a reported company example, not an independent study or a result that can be projected to other teams.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

September 28: Benchmark the harness, not only the model

A model’s surrounding harness can affect a benchmark result, so comparisons should hold the model and reasoning level constant while documenting differences in the harness. The Neuron reports an ARC-AGI-3 example in which Gemini 3.8 Flash scored 10.37% with a standard harness and 35.0% with a provider adapter around the same model and reasoning level.

Those figures are reported by The Neuron as an illustration of harness effects; they are not independently verified here and should not be treated as a general measure of model quality. The digest does not supply primary benchmark documentation to establish the underlying benchmark and model details.

September 29: Branch a good ChatGPT thread instead of starting over

When you want to explore another direction in a conversation, branching from an earlier message can preserve the preceding context while leaving the original thread intact. This can be more useful than restarting if the earlier discussion contains details the alternate path needs.

The digest describes this as a ChatGPT web conversation feature. Interface labels and availability can change, so check the current ChatGPT interface for the branching option rather than relying on fixed click-by-click instructions.

September 30: Make the AI prove it understood you first

Before a complicated research, coding, planning, or writing task, ask the model to restate the goal and the problem it intends to solve. Correct misunderstandings before it starts the substantive work. This is especially useful when a mistaken assumption would make a long answer or implementation irrelevant.

Keep the restatement brief and specific enough to expose wrong assumptions; it is a checkpoint, not proof that the eventual answer is correct.

How to choose a workflow from the digest

Workflow choice Use this when Check before relying on it
Bounded decision or general assistant Use a fixed schema for clear categories or selections; use an open-ended assistant when exceptions and ambiguity dominate. Can the system escalate inputs that do not fit, and are high-confidence decisions actually dependable?
Automatic or manual compaction Follow the harness’s automatic threshold when context is healthy; consider manual compaction when context pressure warrants it. Will summarization discard details the session still needs?
One strong model or a two-tier stack Delegate implementation when tasks are well scoped and independent; reserve stronger-model judgment for planning and review. Does the saved effort outweigh coordination, review, and correction work?
One research pass or parallel lanes Use parallel lanes for genuinely separable parts of a large question. Can a reviewer detect duplicates, weak evidence, and conflicting results before synthesis?
Accumulate or maintain instructions Retain reusable rules that improve recurring work; archive or revise obsolete and conflicting guidance. Can each rule be traced to a reason and tested on a familiar task?

What the demo numbers do—and don’t—show

The digest also reports demonstrations involving 700 sales leads processed in about 40 seconds for $0.09, attributed to Romàn; 129 database rows in about one second for $0.0009 in a Postgres demo; and a browser experiment taking about seven seconds and costing $0.0039. These are publication-reported examples, not standardized benchmarks. Demo material is not standardized, so the figures do not establish expected speed or cost for another workflow.
