Rocket Lab has signed a multi-year agreement with Japan-based Earth-observation company Synspective for 20 dedicated Electron launches carrying StriX radar-imaging satellites. The missions are scheduled for 2028 through 2031, but individual launch dates and the deal’s financial terms have not been disclosed.
What the 20-launch agreement includes
Rocket Lab announced the contract on September 30, 2026, calling it the largest commercial Electron launch contract in its history. Synspective described it as the largest launch contract in its own history when it published its announcement on October 1, 2026. The agreement covers 20 new dedicated Electron missions.
Payload, orbit and launch site
The missions will carry Synspective’s StriX synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites to sun-synchronous orbit, launching from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand. The companies have not announced individual launch dates within the 2028–2031 schedule.
How the deal fits Synspective’s launch program
In its October 1, 2026 update, Synspective said it had contracted 47 Rocket Lab launches in total, with 34 yet to fly, and that 13 StriX satellites had launched to date. These are separate measures: the first two figures count contracted launches, while the third counts satellites launched.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The totals have changed as agreements and missions have accumulated. Rocket Lab said in September 2025 that Synspective had 21 upcoming missions; in March 2026 it reported 27 contracted launches, and in September 2026 it reported 15 additional dedicated missions manifested through the end of the decade. Those earlier figures are snapshots from their respective dates; Synspective’s October 1 update is the latest cumulative status cited here.
What Synspective says the constellation is for
Synspective says its SAR data and analytics support disaster response, national security and environmental monitoring. Rocket Lab describes the constellation’s goal as frequent imaging in different lighting and weather conditions. These are the companies’ stated purposes and goals, not guarantees about specific services or outcomes.

Contract value remains undisclosed
Rocket Lab said the remaining terms of the agreement are undisclosed. The companies have not published a contract value, so the 20-launch count does not establish the deal’s revenue or profit. Rocket Lab also reported that its overall launch backlog exceeded 100 missions after the agreement; that is a company-reported backlog figure, not a valuation of the Synspective contract.
