Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

The finding comes from 357 responses by IT and security professionals across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific. It is a survey result, not an established estimate for all organisations.
What Logicalis’s 64% finding means
The figure describes respondents’ organisations as classified by Logicalis’s Closing the Security Maturity Gap benchmark. The report says it assesses factors including ownership, 24/7 response, visibility, detection, incident readiness and access to external expertise. Its public summary does not disclose the scoring rubric or threshold for “mature,” so readers cannot independently reproduce the classification from the summary alone.
Logicalis’s report landing page also highlights security leadership and ownership, visibility and intelligence-led detection, automation, and resilience. These are themes the report presents, not a complete or verified definition of its maturity score.
The available summary does not state when the survey was conducted, how participants were recruited, how many respondents came from each region or organisation size, or whether results were weighted. Those omissions mean the 64% should not be generalized into a prevalence rate for businesses worldwide.

Other findings point to broader readiness challenges
Logicalis reported several additional results from the same 2026 benchmark. Each is a separate survey measure; they should not be treated as components that add up to the 64% figure.
| Reported finding | What it describes |
|---|---|
| 74% | Respondents’ organisations are not extensively using security automation. |
| 63% | Respondents’ organisations are not fully prepared for ransomware attacks. |
| 39% | Respondents say their organisations manage business-as-usual security well but struggle with emerging threats. |
| 41% | Respondents say their organisation’s security function is separate from IT. |
| 34% | Respondents say their organisation is fully resourced and proactive. |
Logicalis also says 87% of respondents see a positive or potentially positive role for managed security operations centre (SOC) and managed extended detection and response (MXDR) services. That records respondents’ views; it does not demonstrate that a managed service will improve outcomes or suit every organisation.

What organisations can assess in their own operations
The report’s themes offer a practical starting point for an internal review, but they are not a published scoring checklist. An organisation can examine whether it has clear accountability, continuous detection and response, useful visibility, incident readiness, and access to the expertise it needs.
- Coverage and response: Identify which hours are monitored, who receives alerts, and who has authority to investigate, contain, and escalate incidents outside normal business hours.
- Visibility and detection: Check whether monitoring covers the systems and data that matter, and whether alerts are reviewed and acted on rather than simply collected.
- Ownership and readiness: Confirm who leads security decisions and whether incident roles, escalation routes, and recovery responsibilities are understood.
- Automation and expertise: Review which repetitive tasks can be safely automated and where specialist skills or threat intelligence are available when needed.
These questions translate the report’s broad themes into operational checks; they do not recreate Logicalis’s undisclosed maturity methodology.
When to evaluate a managed SOC or MXDR provider
External support may be worth assessing when an organisation cannot sustain the coverage hours, specialist expertise, or response capacity it needs internally. Logicalis’s finding that many respondents see a potential role for managed SOC and MXDR services is a signal of interest, not independent evidence of provider effectiveness.
When comparing an external service with an in-house or hybrid model, ask providers and internal stakeholders about:
Rank #4
- the hours and systems covered, and what falls outside scope;
- what monitoring data the provider can see and how gaps are handled;
- who can authorize containment or other disruptive actions, and how quickly incidents are escalated;
- how detection and response connect to the organisation’s incident plans and recovery process;
- which specialist expertise is available and how the organisation retains oversight of decisions and performance.
A managed service is an operating-model choice, not a substitute for clear accountability inside the organisation. The right arrangement depends on coverage needs, risk, internal capability, and the authority and visibility the organisation retains.

Logicalis published the findings on 1 October 2026 in its announcement, “Nearly two-thirds of organisations lack mature 24/7 security operations, Logicalis research finds”, and on its Closing the security maturity gap Benchmark Report page. The public summary provides the survey response count and regions but not enough methodological detail to establish representativeness or independently verify the maturity classification.
