What the Texas woman says happened
In a Reddit post published September 29, 2026, the poster described herself as a 29-year-old Texas woman who had worked for three years as a senior operations coordinator. She says she accepted an offer from another logistics firm that would have paid 40% more, gave two weeks’ notice, and learned three days before her scheduled start that the offer had been rescinded.
According to her account, her former employer had sent a cease-and-desist letter asserting that she was subject to an active two-year noncompete. She says she never signed such an agreement and that the PDF she received appeared to have been created and digitally signed after she resigned. Those details are the poster’s claims, not independently verified findings. The available sources establish no independent follow-up or outcome. The Nerd Stash’s October 2, 2026 report repeats the allegation and summarizes online commenters’ reactions; it does not establish the authenticity of the document or the reason for the offer’s withdrawal.

What Texas forgery law says
Texas Penal Code §32.21 defines forgery to include making, completing, executing, or authenticating a writing so that it purports to be another person’s act without that person’s authorization. The offense also requires intent to defraud or harm. The statute generally classifies forgery involving a writing that is or purports to be a contract as a third-degree felony, subject to qualifications and exceptions in the law.

That framework is not a determination that the Reddit account meets the statute’s requirements. Whether a document was unauthorized, what its metadata shows, who created or authenticated it, and whether the required intent can be proved are factual and legal questions. A statute’s possible classification does not prove that a crime occurred in this case.
Does the alleged noncompete prevent the new job?
Texas Business and Commerce Code §15.50 sets out criteria for enforceability of covenants not to compete as part of the state’s noncompete chapter. The sources do not include the purported agreement or enough facts to determine whether a covenant exists, whether it meets the statutory criteria, or whether it would be enforceable in these circumstances. A two-year term alone does not settle those questions.
