Its reports describe specific initiatives and release news—not a continent-wide move to NixOS.
What the NixOS reports say about European public-sector plans
The issue highlights public-sector efforts in France and the Netherlands, but they are not evidence that European governments as a whole have adopted NixOS. The linked Sécurix report describes a French workstation project; the Netherlands item is framed as a formal initiative to replace outside software across public institutions.
France: Sécurix is a hardened workstation setup
According to the linked It’s FOSS report, France’s DINUM has been running Sécurix on internal machines. Sécurix is built on NixOS rather than being a fork, and applies security guidance from ANSSI. The report describes it as an MIT-licensed project in alpha, with v0.20.1 as the current release at the time of publication.
The same report gives a scale of 70 machines in a pilot and a target of roughly 250 staff workstations. Those figures describe a pilot and an intended deployment, not a confirmed rollout to all French public employees.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Netherlands: a separate initiative
The issue presents the Netherlands’ DAWO initiative as a formal mandate to replace outside software across public institutions with a NixOS-powered platform. That is a different claim from the French internal-machine use and target. The report also notes that NixOS originated with Eelco Dolstra at Utrecht University and that the NixOS Foundation is a Dutch nonprofit. Those origins may matter to public-sector decisions about geographic and vendor control, but they do not by themselves establish a system’s security or sovereignty.

Use local names instead of memorizing homelab addresses
If you are tired of remembering IP addresses and ports for self-hosted services, the homelab walkthrough combines stable device addresses, local DNS and a reverse proxy. The intended result is typing a name such as jellyfin.internal and having the request reach the right service without manually entering its address and port.

- Give devices stable addresses. Reserve or assign stable IP addresses for the machines that host services. The exact method depends on your router and network.
- Create a local DNS rewrite. In AdGuard Home, add a rewrite that maps the chosen local hostname to the server’s address.
- Set up a proxy host. In Nginx Proxy Manager, add a proxy host for that name and direct it to the relevant service and port.
- Test from a client on your network. Open the local name and check that it resolves and reaches the intended service. Router menus, network addresses, DNS behavior and commands vary by setup, so the walkthrough is a pattern rather than a universal click-by-click recipe.
The author uses a ZimaBoard as an always-on server and also discusses a ZimaCube for local AI exploration. A ZimaBoard is one possible hardware choice, not a requirement for AdGuard Home or Nginx Proxy Manager.

- AlmaLinux has added a software certification catalog. The newsletter-level report does not detail its criteria or list certified products.
- openSUSE Leap 16.1 is absorbing Leap Micro functionality through an optional installer mode. Consult project documentation for implementation details beyond this brief report.
GhostBSD, Nura and F-Droid
- GhostBSD is developing the Mocka desktop as a possible replacement for MATE; the issue describes development, not a completed switch.

- F-Droid has received a major revamp, though the roundup does not itemize the changes.
Tuxdle and Axon-Lite

The hardware corner also highlights Vicharak’s Axon-Lite, a single-board computer concept with swappable interface modules for voice, vision, sensing and AI data. The issue does not establish the modules’ performance, current availability or price, so it is best treated as a product highlight rather than a purchase recommendation.
