Nyrius Phoenix Prime TDD30: Wireless 4K at 30 Hz Without Wi-Fi

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Nyrius Phoenix Prime TDD30 sends video and audio directly from an HDMI source to a TV or projector without joining your Wi-Fi network. Connect its transmitter to the source and its receiver to the display, then power both units. It supports 4K at 30 Hz—not 4K at 60 Hz—and Nyrius lists 90 ms of latency, so it is better suited to presentations and ordinary video than gaming.

What “streaming without Wi-Fi” means here

The TDD30 is a wireless HDMI link, not a streaming device or internet connection. It carries the output of an existing source—such as a laptop, desktop, cable or satellite box—to a TV or projector. The source still needs to provide the content, and the display needs an HDMI input. The transmitter and receiver communicate directly; Nyrius says they do not connect to your household Wi-Fi network and need no app or software.

That distinction matters if you want to watch a streaming service: use a laptop or other device that can run the service and output video over HDMI. The TDD30 itself does not add apps or internet access to a display.

Check compatibility before buying

Source and display ports

The TDD30 is the HDMI-to-HDMI model. Your source must have an HDMI video output, and the TV or projector must have an HDMI input. Nyrius also says HDMI-to-miniHDMI, microHDMI, DisplayPort, and Lightning adapters can be compatible. That depends on the source and adapter actually carrying video; Nyrius advises against digital-to-analog adapters.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Do not confuse it with the similarly named TDD31, which takes USB-C video input and outputs HDMI. It is not a substitute for an HDMI-only source.

Resolution and refresh rate

Nyrius identifies the TDD30 as 4K30 and says it supports 2160p at 30 Hz. Its listed protocol is HDMI 1.4 with HDCP 1.2. If you need 4K at 60 Hz, this model does not meet that requirement.

Power and what is in the box

Both boxes need power: Nyrius specifies 5 V / 1 A USB-C power for each unit. The listed kit includes a transmitter (TDD30TX), a receiver (TDD3RX), and two 3.3-foot USB-A-to-USB-C power cables. Do not assume a TV’s USB port will reliably power the receiver in every setup; use a suitable USB power source that meets the stated requirement.

How to connect the TDD30

  1. Connect the transmitter to the source device’s HDMI output.
  2. Connect one USB-A-to-USB-C power cable to the transmitter and provide 5 V / 1 A USB power.
  3. Connect the receiver to an HDMI input on the TV or projector.
  4. Power the receiver with the other cable, using a 5 V / 1 A USB source.
  5. Select the correct HDMI input on the display and start video on the source.

The system is a paired transmitter-and-receiver connection. Nyrius says additional transmitters or receivers cannot join it, and the specifications list no loop-through. It is intended to send one source to one display, not distribute video to several rooms or screens.

Range, latency, and other limits

Range depends on the room

Nyrius specifies up to 50 ft (15.2 m) through walls, floors, and ceilings, and up to 150 ft (45.7 m) with unobstructed line of sight. These are manufacturer claims, not guaranteed distances for every room. The support FAQ warns that obstacles can reduce range and wireless interference can disrupt the signal.

Latency makes it a poor gaming choice

Nyrius lists 90 ms system latency and says it does not recommend the TDD30 for gaming. That delay can make actions and on-screen responses feel out of sync, particularly in fast or timing-sensitive games. For ordinary video or presentations, whether the delay is acceptable depends on the use and setup.

Wireless details

Nyrius lists a 5.1–5.8 GHz transmission frequency with automatic switching among nine channels, H.264 compression, and PCM audio. Its specifications also state that the TDD30 is not 3D compatible. These published specifications do not establish how the signal will perform in a particular home or office.

Is the Nyrius Phoenix Prime TDD30 a fit?

  • Consider it if you need to send an HDMI source to one distant TV or projector without running an HDMI cable or using household Wi-Fi, and 4K at 30 Hz is sufficient.
  • Look elsewhere if you require 4K at 60 Hz, low-latency gaming, multiple receivers, or a device that independently runs streaming apps.
  • Check your setup if the source uses USB-C, DisplayPort, miniHDMI, microHDMI, or Lightning: the correct video-capable adapter or a different model may be needed.
