Soulframe’s Preludes 16: Of Hook and Hound Hotfix 4 lets players choose which Wolfpup stats to improve: open the pup’s Stats and hold the Add prompt on the stat line you want. Those choices are permanent for now; Digital Extremes said respec options were still under consideration. The hotfix also reset Wolfpup stats without erasing training progress and fixed several training and display issues.
How to allocate your Wolfpup’s stats
-
Open your Wolfpup’s Stats screen.
-
Find the stat you want to improve and hold the on-screen Add prompt on that stat line.
-
Repeat for the other stats you want to raise, using the available points and the stats your Wolfpup has trained.
Hotfix 4 made stat selection permanent while giving players control over where improvements go. Digital Extremes said respec options were still being considered for a later date; the notes do not announce a way to undo an allocation.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What changed about points and Temperaments
The patch reset Wolfpup stats to support player-directed allocation, but retained training progress. Starting Temperament stats are now optional rather than automatically assigned. That means players can choose whether to add those stats and can allocate all 15 Stat points as they prefer, provided the chosen stats have been trained. The pup retains its original Temperament Stats.
How the Aura and Virtue changes work
Hotfix 4 revised the Virtues associated with three Auras:
-
Guts grants additional Courage.
-
Endurance grants Grace.
-
Heart grants Spirit and improves Life recovery from healing Casts and Life Elixirs. It no longer grants a bonus to every Virtue.

Choosing stats around how you play
Soulframe’s Preludes 16 overview says the puppy selected during The Shewolf Snared accompanies the player and grows in response to activity. Fetching, treasure hunting, petting, and combat build capabilities related to those actions. That provides a practical starting point for allocation: consider the activities you want the pup to support, then choose among stats you have trained. The published notes do not establish complete numerical bonuses or an optimal build, so there is no evidence-based universal stat spread to recommend.
Which update is the latest?
As of October 3, 2026, Digital Extremes’ official patch index lists Preludes 16: Of Hook and Hound Hotfix 4 as the newest hotfix under Preludes 16; the main update is dated September 18, 2026. Patch status can change, so check the official Soulframe patch index for anything published after that date.
Preludes is described on the official Soulframe site as an evolving pre-alpha experience. Hotfix 4 concerns in-game mechanics; it does not announce a separate purchase requirement for the patch.
