Why December appears as December 23 in some calendars
The December peak occurs at 01:28 UTC on December 24, which is 8:28 p.m. on December 23 in U.S. Eastern time. Both dates can therefore be correct when the time zone is made clear. Readers elsewhere should check the event in their local time zone rather than assume the UTC date is their local calendar date.

What makes November and December supermoons?
“Supermoon” is a popular label, not an official astronomical category with one universal cutoff. NASA says it is typically used for a full Moon that comes within at least 90 percent of perigee, the Moon’s closest approach to Earth in its orbit. NASA identifies November 24 and December 24, 2026 as supermoons; it does not identify the October full Moon as one.
NASA says that at the Moon’s closest orbital point, a full Moon can appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than the faintest full Moon of the year, which occurs when the Moon is farthest from Earth. That comparison describes orbital extremes, not a guaranteed dramatic difference between every supermoon and an ordinary full Moon as seen by an observer. What do the final three full Moons mean for astrology followers?
Astrology.com’s calendar labels the October full Moon Taurus, the November full Moon Gemini and the December full Moon Cancer. These are sign associations within astrology. Astronomy sources establish the phases and orbital circumstances; they do not validate forecasts about personality, relationships, finances or other life events based on those signs or on a supermoon.
- October — Taurus: Astrology.com places the October 26 full Moon in Taurus.
- November — Gemini: The November 24 full Moon is labeled Gemini.
- December — Cancer: The December event is labeled Cancer; the calendar may show December 23 for a local time zone even though its peak is December 24 UTC.
There is no single authoritative interpretation established for these three sign placements. If astrology is part of your practice, you can use the labels as prompts for personal reflection rather than as deterministic predictions or measured effects.

How to use the dates to plan a viewing
The listed times mark the exact full-Moon phase, not a promise that the Moon will look full only at that instant. For an observing plan, check a local Moonrise time and weather forecast for your location; local visibility depends on where and when you are observing. A telescope is optional for examining lunar detail, not a requirement for seeing the full Moon or following an astrology calendar.
