Salesforce announced on September 29, 2026, that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Listen Labs, an AI-powered customer research platform. Salesforce did not disclose the price. The roughly $2 billion figure comes from reports about earlier negotiations, not a confirmed transaction value. Salesforce expects the acquisition to close in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory clearance.
What Salesforce announced
The agreement would bring Listen Labs into Salesforce’s AI portfolio. Salesforce says the platform will complement Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud and its broader AI work by helping businesses gather customer and user feedback and use it to inform decisions. The announcement presents the deal as a move beyond static surveys and traditional market research; it does not say the two Salesforce clouds and Listen Labs are interchangeable or that integration is already complete. Salesforce’s announcement describes the planned acquisition.
What Listen Labs’ platform does
Listen Labs sells software, not a physical product. Salesforce says its AI agents can design studies, recruit participants, conduct in-depth interviews and synthesize findings. It says the platform can draw on a global network of more than 50 million participants and conduct interviews in more than 120 languages; those are Salesforce’s product claims, not independently audited figures.
Listen Labs says it launched Listen in April 2025. The company traces the product to an AI interviewer its founders built after an app attracted users whose needs they did not understand. CEO and co-founder Alfred Wahlforss described the platform as one that “finds the right people, interviews them, analyzes what they say, and even simulates how they’ll behave.” Listen Labs also names Microsoft, Anthropic and Sweetgreen as customers; that customer list is the startup’s own statement. Listen Labs’ announcement describes the product’s development and its plans following the deal.

Is the acquisition price really $2 billion?
No public price has been confirmed by Salesforce. Its announcement does not state the transaction value. TechCrunch reported on September 9, citing Business Insider’s reporting on negotiations, that Salesforce had discussed an acquisition at around $2 billion. TechCrunch also reported that Listen Labs signed and then walked away from a proposed $125 million Series C term sheet at a $1.5 billion valuation. Neither figure is the disclosed price for the announced acquisition. TechCrunch’s report covers the earlier talks and proposed funding round.
SiliconANGLE’s October 1 report also said the companies had not disclosed terms. Until the parties publish a transaction value, “around $2 billion” should be treated as a reported figure, not a confirmed deal term. SiliconANGLE’s report likewise notes that the terms were not disclosed.
