Haryana has approved an elevated road linking Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk in Gurugram. GMDA will execute the project and commission a fresh detailed project report (DPR), so approval is not yet a construction start: the final design, cost and schedule have not been stated. Hindustan Times reported the approval on October 2, 2026.
What has been approved?
The project is an elevated road between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk. The October 2 report describes the stretch as 2.25 km long. That is the current reported scope, not a final design measurement: GMDA’s new DPR is expected to establish the detailed project scope.
The stated aim is to improve connectivity between Dwarka Expressway and the Delhi-Jaipur highway and reduce congestion along the corridor. Hindustan Times reported that officials put daily traffic at around 70,000 to 80,000 vehicles; this is an estimate attributed to officials, not a separately verified traffic count in the report.
Who will build it, and what happens next?
Haryana has assigned execution to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). GMDA is to appoint a consultant and prepare a fresh DPR. NHAI had earlier proposed the elevated section, but the latest report says GMDA will now take up the project. (Hindustan Times, October 2, 2026)

The DPR is the next important step because it will define the detailed scope and inform the design and cost. The October report does not give a construction start date, completion date or final project cost.
Why approval does not mean work can start immediately
Utility work remains a dependency. At the October meeting, NHAI officials said shifting water-supply lines, sewer lines and stormwater drains had not been completed, while relocation of high-tension power lines was underway. A new substation in Sector 37 was being built to facilitate relocation of the existing Sector 10 substation, according to the report. (Hindustan Times, October 2, 2026)

What is known about the cost?
₹181 crore was the estimate for an earlier NHAI proposal, not a confirmed final budget. Because GMDA is to prepare a fresh DPR, that figure should not be treated as the sanctioned cost of the final project. A July 2026 report described a 2.24-km concept with a then-current NHAI estimate of ₹182 crore; the October report gives 2.25 km and refers to the earlier ₹181-crore proposal. How the proposal changed
The corridor plan has been revised more than once, and earlier concepts should not be confused with the design now to be developed through the fresh DPR.

- Earlier alternatives: A June 2026 report discussed surface widening, flyovers or underpasses at several junctions, and a double-decker road with a metro line. The plan then being advanced focused on an elevated road with a separate metro line. (Hindustan Times, June 8, 2026)
- NHAI proposal: In July, NHAI was still seeking GMDA and Haryana’s consent to finalise its six-lane elevated-corridor proposal. Reporting at the time said uncertainty over the road design was impeding metro design work. (Hindustan Times, July 14, 2026)
- Current status: The October approval puts GMDA in charge of execution and requires a new DPR. No final lane configuration or metro interface is stated in the latest report. (Hindustan Times, October 2, 2026)
Reported lengths also differ across these stages: around 2.5 km in June, 2.24 km in July and 2.25 km in October. The fresh DPR will establish the detailed scope.

No construction start or completion date is stated in the October 2 report. The approval confirms the project and the authority responsible for taking it forward, but the consultant appointment, fresh DPR and outstanding utility shifting are among the steps still reported. An opening date or construction timeline cannot be confirmed from the current account.
