Its roughly seven-minute endurance, basic camera, fragile micro-drone hardware and uncertain battery specification matter even more now that Hubsan lists the model as out of stock.
What the H107D X4 FPV is
The H107D is a tiny four-channel quadcopter with a camera that sends a first-person-view (FPV) feed to the supplied controller. Hubsan’s listing gives the aircraft a 3.2 × 3.2-inch size, while New Atlas measured a 114 mm diagonal span. Tech Advisor describes a 4.3-inch color screen built into the transmitter. That combination—an inexpensive-feeling micro aircraft and a dedicated live-view controller—was the product’s main attraction when reviews appeared in 2014 and 2015.
Hubsan’s current product page identifies the aircraft as the “H107D X4 FPV” but marks it out of stock (Hubsan product listing). Treat any example found today as old inventory or used equipment rather than a normally supported current model.
Flight time: plan for very short sessions
Hubsan advertises a maximum flight time of seven minutes. New Atlas reviewer Ben Coxworth also reported about seven minutes from a 380mAh battery and approximately 30 minutes for charging (New Atlas review). Those figures describe a small LiPo-powered aircraft at its best; wind, aggressive flying, a tired battery and repeated crashes can reduce usable airtime.
#1 Best Overall
- Battery: 3.7V Voltage, 530mAh li-po battery with auto cut off safety PCB
- Includes USB charging cable
- Control distance: 50 - 150meters
- Live video distance: around 100 meters
- Camera included, 1280 x 820 Resolution
The practical rhythm is therefore a few minutes of flying followed by a much longer charging interval. Buyers who want an afternoon of practice need several compatible batteries and a safe charging routine, not just the aircraft in the box.
Camera and FPV image quality
Conflicting resolution claims
Hubsan’s product page states “720*480P Video,” while Tech Advisor describes the built-in camera as 640×480 (Hubsan; Tech Advisor). The discrepancy is not resolved by the available documentation, so neither figure should be treated as a modern high-definition standard.
What the feed is good for
The camera is primarily a piloting aid and novelty feature. New Atlas found the lens narrow and the image quality limited. Coxworth also saw glitches in the transmitted picture; because the controller records the received feed to a Micro SD card, those dropouts appeared in the saved video as well (New Atlas). Tech Advisor’s verdict similarly judged the video poor for impressive aerial footage, even while finding the aircraft rewarding to fly with practice (Tech Advisor).
In other words, the H107D can show you where the quadcopter is pointing and let you experiment with FPV flying. It is not a sensible purchase for clean, stable clips, wide landscapes or footage intended to compete with current camera drones.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBattery, charging and compatibility
Hubsan’s specification block lists a 3.7V 380mAh LiPo and a 30-minute charge time, and New Atlas reviewed a 380mAh pack with a similar charging time. However, the same Hubsan page’s included-box list names a 3.7V 530mAh battery (Hubsan product listing). That internal contradiction makes it unsafe to order a replacement by capacity alone.

If you already own one, search for a Hubsan H107D replacement battery 3.7V only after checking the connector, physical dimensions, polarity and the capacity printed on your original pack. A 530mAh listing is not automatically interchangeable with the 380mAh specification. Also confirm that the battery is intended for the H107D rather than a similarly named X4 variant.
Do not charge a swollen, damaged or hot LiPo. The indexed Hubsan manual warns: “The X4 quadcopter has parts that move at high speed, which poses a certain degree of danger,” and says, “To avoid risk of fire or damage, never recharge your battery while it is inserted in the X4” (indexed Hubsan X4 manual). Verify the manual revision for your particular aircraft before relying on any procedure.
Build, handling and likely ownership problems
The small, guarded-propeller format is approachable indoors or outside in calm conditions, but it leaves little mass to resist wind. Learning to hover, yaw and maintain orientation takes practice; FPV adds another layer because the screen view can be delayed or interrupted.
Coxworth reported awkward battery-wire stowage and a short that developed in his review unit after repeated manipulation. That is a finding about the tested example, not evidence of a published failure rate, but it illustrates why an old H107D should be inspected rather than assumed serviceable. Check the battery lead, connector, motors, propellers, guards and controller before flight. Hubsan’s listed box contents include spare propellers, a wrench, a propeller-protection cover, USB charging cable and manual, although availability of replacement parts today is not established by the listing.

Where it works—and where it does not
Best use: learning FPV control
The H107D makes sense as a hands-on trainer for someone who values the act of flying more than the recording. The live screen encourages orientation practice, hovering and navigating through simple obstacles. Its low-resolution feed and short flights limit the consequences of mistakes and make it a more approachable experiment than a full-size camera drone.
Weak use: aerial photography
Choose something else if your priority is footage. The narrow lens, low-resolution recording, visible transmission glitches and lack of modern stabilization undermine every part of that job. The controller screen is useful for piloting, not for judging cinematic framing.

Indoor and outdoor flying
Its small size suits a clear indoor room, while outdoor flying is most practical in calm weather. Keep people, pets and obstacles away from the spinning propellers, and check the aviation and radio rules that apply where you fly; those requirements vary by location and are not established by the historical reviews.
Is a Hubsan H107D worth buying now?
Only in a narrow case: you specifically want an inexpensive, old-style FPV flying experience and have verified the condition of the aircraft, controller, battery and parts supply. The original appeal remains real, but the model’s seven-minute endurance, basic camera and age make ownership more maintenance-heavy than its simple appearance suggests.
Do not use the prices quoted in the 2014–2015 reviews as current market values. With the official listing out of stock and no verified current alternative prices or regional inventory in the available evidence, a present-day value comparison cannot be made reliably. Add the cost and availability of at least one compatible spare battery, propellers and guards before deciding what a used example is worth.
Quick Recap
Bottom line for different buyers
- Buy it for FPV practice: potentially enjoyable if the unit is complete, healthy and inexpensive.
- Buy it for video: no; the camera and recorded feed are too limited.
- Buy it as a dependable current product: no; Hubsan lists it out of stock and old batteries and parts require verification.
- Already own one: inspect the wiring and LiPo, confirm the connector and dimensions before buying a replacement, and treat the seven-minute figure as an upper limit rather than a promise.
