There is no independent evidence that X shadowbanned Lamar MK or that Tesla criticism caused his posts to receive fewer views. A September 3, 2024 Futurism report documents his allegation: he said videos that performed better on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok were getting “barely 100 views” on X. X’s own help documentation lists several possible causes of reduced discoverability, but it cannot establish what happened to this account.
What Lamar MK alleged
Futurism reporter Victor Tangermann described Lamar MK as a committed Tesla fan who said he had received two subsequent Cybertrucks with serious problems. The reported complaints included a charging cable that would not disengage, sagging headliner trim, repeated red error messages and being locked out of the vehicle. These are his reported experiences, not independently verified diagnoses or proof of a broader Cybertruck reliability rate.

He continued promoting Tesla and called the Cybertruck a major innovation despite those complaints. In the same account, he questioned whether his paid X subscription was doing anything for exposure and asked Elon Musk to address the reach problem.
His comparison was personal rather than independently measured. Futurism quoted him saying: “I post all my videos to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and they get decent amount of views.” He added: “I post those same videos to X and they barely get 100 views, it’s like zero reach.” He then speculated: “Either nothing is wrong, or I’m just shadow-banned to have no reach on here.” The report did not authenticate the original posts, provide account analytics or identify an X employee who confirmed a restriction.

That leaves two separate facts: Lamar MK says his X performance was unusually low, and he suspects the difference was deliberate suppression. The second point remains unproven.
What “shadowban” could mean on X
X does not present a single, publicly verifiable “shadowban” switch that explains every low-performing post. Its reach-limitation guidance says posts can become less discoverable for multiple reasons, including policy enforcement, quality and safety ranking, experiments, legal issues, spam-related concerns and technical limitations. It also says ranking relies on multiple signals rather than one signal alone.

X’s general explanation is useful context, not a diagnosis. A creator would need account-level evidence—such as a platform notice, reproducible visibility tests and reliable analytics—to distinguish these possibilities.
Did complaining about the Cybertruck cause the low reach?
The available report establishes no causal link. It places his vehicle complaints and his low-view claim in the same story, but it does not show that X saw, evaluated or penalized those complaints. There is no named official statement about this case, no published enforcement record and no independent analysis demonstrating that posts critical of Tesla were treated differently.

Views can also differ sharply between services because each platform has its own audience, recommendation system, video format, follower graph and measurement rules. “Barely 100 views” is therefore Lamar MK’s reported observation, not a validated statistic that proves account-wide suppression.
Does X Premium guarantee more views?
No. The 2024 report referred to an $8-a-month X Premium subscription, but it did not establish that the subscription promised a particular number of impressions or that Lamar MK’s posts were entitled to broad distribution.

X’s current Premium documentation lists Basic, Premium and Premium+ tiers and describes reply prioritization, with greater prioritization at higher tiers. It does not promise a set number of video views or guaranteed account-wide reach. Features can change, and availability can depend on platform and location, so today’s tier descriptions should not be treated as a precise reconstruction of what a subscriber received in 2024.
Reply prioritization is also narrower than guaranteed discovery. It may influence where replies appear in conversations; it does not ensure that an uploaded video will be recommended to non-followers or perform like the same video on another service.

How to read the allegation responsibly
What is documented
- Lamar MK said his videos received better responses on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok than on X.
- He reported Cybertruck problems involving charging, trim, warning messages and vehicle access.
- He suspected a shadowban and questioned the value of his paid subscription.
What is not established
- That X imposed a hidden or explicit restriction on his account.
- That Tesla-related criticism caused any reduction in distribution.
- That his cross-platform view counts were independently verified.
- That Premium should have guaranteed a particular level of reach.
The strongest defensible conclusion is limited: Lamar MK publicly attributed a large difference in video performance to possible suppression, but the evidence available in the report cannot determine whether the cause was enforcement, ranking, filtering, a technical issue or normal variation.
