Neither is universally best: the right app depends on whether you want independent romantic relationships, couple dating, casual sex, group connections, queer community, privacy, or simply the largest local pool.
This guide separates polyamory from swinging, threesomes and general open-relationship dating, then compares ten apps by audience, solo and couple support, local activity, privacy and likely relationship style.
What “polyamorous dating app” means
Polyamory means having more than one emotionally or romantically significant relationship with everyone’s informed consent. Ethical non-monogamy (ENM) is the broader category, including polyamory, open relationships, relationship anarchy and swinging. An open relationship may permit sex or romance outside a primary partnership, but couples define that differently. Swinging usually centers on partnered sexual experiences, while “couple seeking a third” can mean a triad, a shared sexual partner or something less defined. Ask rather than assume.
The list below therefore labels each service by its actual emphasis. An ENM-friendly app is not automatically a polyamory-focused app, and a relationship-status field is not proof that a user understands consent.

These are audience recommendations, not objective quality scores. City, age, gender, sexuality and relationship goals can reverse the order.
1. Feeld: best overall for ENM
Feeld is the clearest general-purpose starting point for solo poly people, couples opening a relationship, kink-friendly daters and people exploring non-traditional connections. Its official app information describes singles and couples, linked profiles, group chats, desires, interests and relationship-type, gender and sexuality fields: feeld.co/the-app. Feeld’s FAQ says both singles and couples can use it: feeld.co/about/faq.
Best fit and trade-offs
Use Feeld when you want one app that can accommodate independent dating, partnered dating or group conversations. Its broad ENM pool also includes people seeking casual sex, threesomes or kink rather than emotionally focused polyamory. Treat “ENM-friendly” as the accurate description, not “polyamory-only.”
Free and paid access
Feeld says its free tier allows exploration, likes, connections and conversations. Its paid Majestic membership adds benefits such as seeing who liked you, unlimited likes and a daily Ping; benefits can change, so check the live offer before subscribing. Prices vary by country, platform, taxes and promotion. A US$15.49 30-day price shown in one non-U.S. App Store listing is not a U.S. price: apps.apple.com/bo/app/feeld-polyamorous-dating/id887914690?platform=ipad.
Privacy
Feeld advertises Incognito mode, private photos, screenshot protection, timed photos and a 24/7 safety team: feeld.co. These are first-party claims, not an independent security audit. Feeld is primarily a mobile-app experience rather than a full web-dating service.
2. #Open: best purpose-built community alternative
#Open describes itself as a non-monogamous social-networking experience for individuals, couples and people exploring ENM. It combines profiles with community and event discovery: hashtagopen.com.
Why choose it
It is a strong choice if you want more than swiping, particularly events and connections among both single and partnered people. The company publishes figures including 516,000 downloads, 178,000 single profiles, 41,000 partnered profiles and nine relationship types. Those are company-reported platform figures, not independently audited counts of active users in your city.
Limitations
Event coverage is concentrated in the United States and Canada, and local activity can vary sharply. #Open also spans polyamory, swinging and broader sexual exploration. Its 256-bit-encryption statement is a vendor claim; still review profile visibility, deletion and photo settings yourself.

3. OkCupid: best for detailed relationship disclosure
OkCupid suits people who prefer substantial profiles, values and compatibility questions over a purely swipe-first experience: okcupid.com. It is a mainstream service, so a relationship-style label does not guarantee ENM knowledge, consent or availability.
Choose it when you want to explain hierarchy, boundaries, long-term goals and communication expectations before meeting. Current labels, filters, subscription benefits and regional availability can change; verify them in the live app rather than relying on older guides.
4. Taimi: best for LGBTQ+ users
Taimi is positioned as an LGBTQ+ dating and social app and is included in current polyamory-app coverage: taimi.com/blog/best-polyamorous-dating-apps/. It can be useful when queer identity and local community matter more than dedicated poly tools.
Taimi is not primarily a polyamory service. Relationship-structure labels, filters and culture may differ by version and region, so screen matches for actual ENM compatibility instead of inferring it from LGBTQ+ branding.

5. PolyFinda: best specialist concept
PolyFinda is aimed specifically at polyamorous dating and community, making it attractive to readers who want specialization over mainstream scale. The practical question is current local activity: a focused service is ineffective if few people nearby use it.
Check whether the current product is a native app, web service or both, and verify moderation, privacy, pricing and account activity before paying. Do not assume its name guarantees a large or active membership.
6. 3Fun: best for couples and casual group dating
3Fun is commonly positioned around couples, singles, threesomes and group encounters: 3fun.com. It is a sensible experiment for a shared sexual experience or casual group connection.
It may be less suitable for building independent, long-term romantic relationships. State whether you want a one-time encounter, a shared partner or separate dating, and use extra care with identity verification, explicit images and privacy. Current pricing and safety features should be checked in the live product.
7. Tinder: best when mainstream reach matters
Tinder can be valuable in small towns because its overall pool is large. Tinder reports availability in 190 countries and more than 55 billion matches; those are company-reported figures. Its official materials list Relationship Goals, Passport, Double Date, Photo Verification, Face Check in selected markets, blocking, reporting and Share My Date: tinder.com.
It is not polyamory-first. Put ENM in the first lines of your profile, identify existing partners and say whether you date independently or as part of a couple. Expect to educate and screen more than you would on Feeld or #Open.
Rank #4
8. HER: best for queer women and nonbinary users
HER can work when your preferred queer women, nonbinary and LGBTQ+ community is concentrated there. It is a queer-focused alternative, not a direct replacement for a polyamory specialist.
Verify current relationship-style options and search tools in your region. Never assume that HER users are open to non-monogamy simply because the app is LGBTQ+ oriented.

9. SLS: best for swinging and alternative lifestyles
SLS describes itself as an alternative-lifestyle community for singles, couples and groups, with profiles, chat rooms and groups: sls.com. Joining is free, the service contains adult material, and users must meet its age requirement (18 or 21 where local law requires).
SLS is a better match for swinging, lifestyle events and sexually open groups than for solo polyamory or emotionally focused multiple relationships. Member counts change quickly and should not be treated as verified active prospects. Consider workplace discretion, image privacy and adult-content exposure before creating an account.
10. Bumble: best only as a local-pool fallback
Bumble presents Bumble Date as a way to find meaningful relationships and lists Date and BFF as core products: bumble.com. That makes it a conventional dating workaround, not a specialist ENM recommendation.
Try Bumble if local activity on specialist apps is poor and you are prepared to explain your structure clearly. Current relationship labels, filters and premium prices require checking in the live app.

Which app should you use?
- Solo poly: Start with Feeld, OkCupid or PolyFinda; add Tinder if specialist density is low.
- Dating together as a couple: Try Feeld or #Open; use 3Fun for casual group encounters.
- Queer poly dating: Compare Feeld, Taimi, HER and OkCupid based on your local community.
- Serious relationship-oriented polyamory: Prioritize detailed profiles and consent conversations on OkCupid, Feeld, PolyFinda or #Open.
- Swinging or group sex: Look at SLS, 3Fun or Feeld, and label your goal accurately.
- Small town: Test Tinder, Bumble and OkCupid alongside one specialist app.
- Privacy-sensitive dating: Compare Feeld and #Open settings, then confirm visibility, photo and deletion controls before uploading identifying material.
Check local activity before paying
Global downloads do not tell you whether an app works nearby. Search your travel radius and look for recent activity, complete profiles, genuine conversations and recurring ENM events. Compare the app’s strength in your demographic, not just its total membership. Test a service for a week or two before buying a long subscription when cancellation terms allow.
Build a clear poly dating profile
Disclose your relationship structure early without turning the profile into a contract. Say whether you are solo poly, partnered or married; whether you date independently or together; whether a partner knows; and whether you seek romance, sex, friendship or a specific connection.
Example: “Solo poly, partnered but dating independently. Looking for an emotionally open connection, not a secret or a couple package. I’m happy to meet people new to ENM if they are honest and willing to communicate.”
Use recent photos of yourself, describe realistic availability and mention relevant safer-sex expectations. Do not publish a partner’s private details without permission.
Screen matches before meeting
Questions worth asking
- What does polyamory or ENM mean to you?
- Does your partner know you are dating?
- Are you dating independently or together?
- What kind of connection are you available for?
- Are there hierarchy rules, vetoes or scheduling restrictions?
- How do you handle safer sex and testing?
- What information may be shared with your partner?
- What happens if one person loses interest?
Red flags
- “My wife doesn’t know yet.”
- A couple refuses to discuss the prospective partner’s autonomy.
- Pressure to move immediately off-platform or provide explicit images.
- Requests for money, gift cards, travel expenses or emergency help.
- A partner has veto power over every aspect of an outside relationship.
- Someone claims the poly label but cannot explain consent, disclosure or safer-sex practices.
- A profile treats a person as an interchangeable “third.”
Privacy and personal safety
Platform tools reduce some risks but cannot verify character or guarantee identity. Use a separate display name or contact method at first, limit location precision, and review who can see photos and profile details. Verification badges are not proof of good conduct.
- Video chat before meeting when appropriate.
- Meet in a public place and arrange your own transport.
- Tell a trusted person where you are and use a check-in plan.
- Do not share a partner’s information without consent.
- Refuse money, financial-account, travel or emergency-help requests.
- Block and report harassment, impersonation, coercion or nonconsensual image sharing.
Non-monogamy can expose people to outing, workplace consequences, family conflict, stalking or harassment. Check screenshot, blocking, deletion and data-retention policies before posting identifying material. Availability of features such as Tinder’s Photo Verification, Face Check or Share My Date varies by market.
Free does not mean every feature is free
Separate a free download from free browsing, likes, matching, messaging, filters, visibility boosts and access to people who liked you. Subscriptions may auto-renew, and prices differ by country, device, taxes, promotions and checkout route. Confirm the total cost and cancellation terms in your own App Store, Google Play or web checkout. No universal monthly price is reliable across all ten apps.
Availability and changing app features
Check your country, App Store or Google Play, age rules, local law and whether web signup is supported. Feeld says it is available in most countries and territories where the major app stores operate, but local verification is still necessary: feeld.co/about/faq. Menu names, labels, filters and subscription benefits can change, particularly on mainstream apps.

Start with Feeld for the broadest ENM-oriented toolkit, or #Open if community and events matter as much as dating. Choose OkCupid or PolyFinda for a more relationship-focused specialist approach, Taimi or HER for queer community, 3Fun or SLS for group and lifestyle encounters, and Tinder or Bumble when local population outweighs specialist features. Whatever the app, clear disclosure, informed consent, local activity and privacy matter more than a label on the download page.
