Use Telegram in a browser at web.telegram.org. You do not need to install the Telegram app on the computer, phone, or other device you are using. Sign in by approving a QR code from an existing Telegram session, or use the phone-number login flow. You still need a verified Telegram account and its authentication credentials.
What “without downloading” means
Telegram Web is an official browser client, not an account-free version of Telegram. It lets you avoid downloading the app to the device in front of you, provided that device already has a supported modern browser and JavaScript enabled.
- No Telegram app download: Yes, through Telegram Web.
- No software download at all: Usually, if a browser is already installed.
- No account or verification: No. Telegram still requires account authentication.
- No local data: Not guaranteed. Cookies, cache, browser history, screenshots, and downloaded media can remain.
- No phone involvement: Sometimes after a session is established, but initial login may require a phone number, a login code, QR approval, or another authenticated Telegram session.
Start from https://web.telegram.org/ or reach Telegram Web through Telegram’s official applications directory at https://telegram.org/apps. Avoid search results offering unofficial “Telegram online” login pages.
How to sign in with a QR code
QR login is usually the fastest method when Telegram is already open on your phone, tablet, or another trusted device.

- Open a current browser and go to https://web.telegram.org/.
- Choose the QR-code login option if it is not displayed automatically.
- On a device already signed in to the correct Telegram account, open Settings → Devices → Add Device.
- Scan the QR code shown on the browser screen.
- Confirm the new browser session if Telegram asks you to approve it.
- Wait while your regular cloud chats synchronize.
The QR code should be visible on the official Telegram Web page. Never scan a code copied from an unknown website or sent by another person.
How to log in with your phone number
If QR login is unavailable, choose the phone-number option on Telegram Web and follow the prompts:
- Select your country and enter the phone number connected to your Telegram account.
- Enter the login code Telegram provides.
- Enter your 2-Step Verification password if you enabled one.
- Complete any captcha or browser security prompt that appears.
When another Telegram session is active, Telegram may deliver the account login code to the verified service-notifications chat named Telegram instead of by SMS. The Verification Codes chat is for codes from third-party services and is not necessarily the chat used to log in to Telegram. A passkey may also be available for your account. Telegram says passkeys can use a device PIN, fingerprint, or face scan instead of an SMS code, but availability and browser support depend on the current account interface.

Which official web clients are available?
Telegram’s applications directory lists two official browser clients, Telegram WebA and Telegram WebK. The directory lists web access for Mac, Windows, Linux, and mobile browsers: https://telegram.org/apps. For most people, there is no need to choose manually; opening web.telegram.org is the simplest official route.
What you can do in Telegram Web
Telegram is designed as a cloud-based service, so ordinary chats are available on multiple connected devices. In Telegram Web you can generally:
- Read and send regular private messages.
- Participate in groups and channels.
- Send and receive text, images, videos, and files.
- Search conversations and view shared media.
- Manage many normal chat and account settings.
- Use Telegram from a computer, tablet, or mobile browser.
Telegram Web covers the core cloud-chat experience, but its interface and feature set can change. Calls, stories, notifications, payments, mini apps, translation, AI-related tools, voice and video messages, large-file handling, and other newer functions may work differently or require a particular browser, account, country, or release.
What does not transfer to Telegram Web?
Secret Chats
Secret Chats are the major limitation. Telegram says they use end-to-end encryption, are not stored in Telegram Cloud, and are tied to the devices where they were created. A Secret Chat started on a phone should not be expected to appear in Telegram Web. Logging out of the device associated with a Secret Chat can also cause that chat and its messages to be lost. Features that may vary
Native Android, iOS, Desktop, and macOS apps can receive features before a web client does. Telegram’s Premium FAQ warns that some clients may not immediately support every Premium feature, even though Premium is available through Telegram Web: https://telegram.org/faq_premium/?setln=en. Notifications, calls, background operation, media tools, payment features, and newly released functions can therefore be less consistent in a browser.
Is Telegram Web safe?
The official website can be used securely, but browser and device security still matter.
- Check that the address bar shows web.telegram.org before entering a code or scanning a QR code.
- Use the link from Telegram’s official app directory if you are unsure: https://telegram.org/apps.
- Enable 2-Step Verification and a strong device or browser password under Telegram’s privacy and security settings.
- Do not save login information on a shared computer.
- Do not download sensitive files to a school, work, hotel, library, or other public machine.
- Review active sessions in Settings → Devices.
A private browser window can reduce local history and session persistence, but it does not make activity invisible to the computer owner, employer, school, network administrator, or websites. How to log out and remove a browser session
- Open Telegram Web’s menu and look for Settings.
- Choose Log Out.
- On a trusted Telegram device, open Settings → Devices.
- Find the browser session and terminate it if it remains listed or the computer was not trusted.
Cloud messages remain available after logging out, but Secret Chats associated with the logged-out device follow the device-specific rules described above.

Telegram Web troubleshooting
The QR code will not scan
- Increase screen brightness and enlarge the browser window.
- Make sure the phone camera can focus on the entire code.
- Open Settings → Devices → Add Device manually instead of using a camera shortcut.
- Confirm that the phone is signed in to the intended account.
- Reload Telegram Web to generate a fresh QR code.
- Try phone-number login.
- Check whether the browser blocks JavaScript, cookies, pop-ups, or cross-site storage.
- Try another current browser and remove stale Telegram Web sessions from Settings → Devices.
Your chats do not appear
First verify that the browser is logged in to the correct phone number and allow time for synchronization. A missing conversation may be a Secret Chat, a device-only draft, an offline session, or a session that was terminated. Secret Chats will not sync into Telegram Web.
The login code does not arrive
Check the Telegram service-notifications chat on an already logged-in device, then verify the phone number and country code. If 2-Step Verification is enabled, the password is also required. Without the phone number, an authenticated Telegram session, and any required 2-Step Verification credentials, Telegram Web cannot bypass account verification.
Notifications do not arrive
Check browser notification permissions, operating-system background restrictions, private-mode settings, and whether the session is still logged in. For dependable background alerts, the native app is usually the better choice.
The site will not load
Try another current browser, disable restrictive script or storage blocking for the official site, and check whether a school, workplace, or public network is filtering Telegram. Do not install an unofficial extension or wrapper as a workaround.

When Telegram Web is the right choice
- You cannot install software on the device.
- The device has limited storage.
- You need temporary access on a borrowed computer.
- You mainly use regular cloud chats, groups, and channels.
- You need Telegram on a platform where the native app is unavailable.
Prefer an official mobile or desktop app when you need reliable background notifications, dependable calls, deeper operating-system integration, the broadest feature set, or access to Secret Chats stored on that device. Official downloads are listed at https://telegram.org/apps.

Can I use Telegram Web on an iPhone or Android phone?
Yes. Telegram lists its official web clients for mobile browsers as well as Mac, Windows, and Linux. Open web.telegram.org in the phone’s browser.
Can I create a Telegram account from a browser?
You can follow the browser’s supported phone-number login flow, but account creation still requires Telegram’s verification process. Telegram Web is not an authentication bypass.
Can I use Telegram Web without my phone nearby?
After a browser session has been authenticated, the phone does not need to remain nearby for ordinary cloud chats. Initial access may require QR approval, a login code delivered to another session, or other account credentials.
Do I need Telegram Premium to use Telegram Web?
