ScrapingAnt Alternatives for Web Scraping: What to Compare

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If ScrapingAnt does not fit your target sites, output format, integration or bill, evaluate alternatives against the pages and request settings you actually use. Zyte is a concrete option to test when managed unblocking and site-dependent pricing matter; ScraperAPI is another candidate, but the available pricing comparison comes from ScrapingAnt itself. There is no substantiated universal winner or independent head-to-head benchmark.

What to compare before switching from ScrapingAnt

A hosted web scraping API fetches pages and returns content through an API. Depending on the service, that content may be HTML, Markdown or structured JSON. Services may also bundle proxy rotation, JavaScript rendering, retries and scaling. Those labels alone do not show whether a provider can retrieve your pages reliably; vendor descriptions do not establish success rates for your particular domains.

Start by defining a representative workload: the exact URLs or domain types, regions, rendering needs, output format, request volume and acceptable failure rate. Ask each vendor for an estimate using the same request profile, or run a controlled test under its trial or free-plan terms where allowed. Record the date, geography, API settings and what counted as a successful result.

  • Target-domain fit: Can the service access the specific pages and regions you need under permitted access conditions?
  • Rendering: Do pages require JavaScript or browser execution, and how does rendering affect price and latency?
  • Proxy and geography: Which IP types, locations and session controls are needed?
  • Output and extraction: Do you need raw HTML, cleaned Markdown or structured records? Is extraction included, or a separate step?
  • Failure accounting: What is billable? How are blocks, timeouts, retries and partial responses handled?
  • Operations: What concurrency, request rates, usage reporting and support do you require?
  • Integration: Check authentication, API shape, SDKs, error handling and migration guidance.
  • Unit economics: Calculate cost per usable page or record using your own option mix, not a headline allowance.

For fair results, keep the workload constant. Separate ordinary pages from JavaScript-rendered pages, and distinguish a successful HTTP response from a usable record: a page can load but still contain a challenge, incomplete content or an unexpected layout.

Alternatives to evaluate

Zyte API: consider it for managed access and extraction

Zyte’s official pricing page advertises a starting rate from $0.06 per 1,000 successful responses. It also lists a 30-day trial with $5 credit and no commitment. These are the terms advertised on the page; pricing is tiered by website and whether browser rendering is used, and the page directs customers to enter a website to see its price. Some advanced features can add usage-based costs. See Zyte’s pricing page.

Zyte lists automatic proxy rotation across residential, datacenter and mobile IPs, CAPTCHA handling, session management, JavaScript rendering and geographic targeting. Its product materials describe the API as combining site access or unblocking with extraction. Zyte’s FAQ distinguishes this from a proxy API that routes requests but does not natively perform extraction. These are Zyte’s descriptions, not independently tested results. Its stated use cases include pricing and assortment monitoring, search intelligence, AI data enrichment, market intelligence, and real estate and classifieds. See Zyte’s product page.

Zyte is worth testing if those managed capabilities match your workflow, but the advertised starting rate is not a reliable estimate for every site. Enter your actual target and compare the resulting estimate and trial performance with the same workload on ScrapingAnt.

ScraperAPI: verify the comparison with current plan terms

ScrapingAnt publishes a comparison claiming that, at $49 per month, its Startup plan includes 500,000 credits while ScraperAPI’s Hobby plan includes 100,000. ScrapingAnt also claims failed requests cost no credits and that one ScrapingAnt credit pool covers its web API, Markdown output, AI extraction and MCP server. These are interested-party claims from ScrapingAnt, not independently verified ScraperAPI terms. Confirm both vendors’ current pricing and calculate any feature multipliers for your own request mix before relying on the comparison. See ScrapingAnt’s ScraperAPI comparison.

ScrapingAnt also provides migration material describing Python and JavaScript clients and says its free plan includes monthly credits. The current allowance and conditions can change, so check its migration documentation and live plan terms before planning a migration.

Other names are candidates, not verified recommendations

A Firecrawl comparison published in 2026 lists Bright Data, ScrapingDog, ScrapingBee, Oxylabs, ScraperAPI, Scrape.do and ZenRows alongside Firecrawl as services to consider. It discusses dimensions such as output, rendering, proxy management, retries and pricing. Because the article is published by a provider in the same market, treat its rankings and vendor claims as a lead list rather than neutral performance evidence. Current capabilities and prices for those candidates are not established here; verify them directly before selecting one. See Firecrawl’s comparison.

How ScrapingAnt itself is positioned

ScrapingAnt describes a product that combines browser-rendered retrieval, rotating proxies, geotargeting, Markdown output, structured extraction, MCP tooling and custom data work. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independently validated results. If one of these is the reason you are considering a switch, identify whether the alternative provides the same function in the same request path or whether you will need a separate browser, proxy or extraction service. ScrapingAnt’s product description is at scrapingant.com.

ScrapingAnt says requests consume different credit amounts depending on enabled features. That makes nominal plan credits a poor proxy for usable volume unless you account for your settings. Zyte likewise says its pricing depends on the website and features used. Compare the cost of your actual profile—such as rendered requests with geographic targeting—not just a base plan or vendor-to-vendor headline number.

Calculate the cost of usable results

Use a short pilot to estimate how much you pay for the result you can actually use. Keep a record for each request of the target, region, rendering and extraction options, response status, retry count, whether the page content was usable, and the reported charge or credit use. Then calculate:

Effective cost per usable result = total cost for the test workload ÷ number of usable pages or records.

Include retries and the service’s billing treatment of failed attempts. A provider that appears cheaper per request may cost more per usable record if your target pages need expensive options or return unusable content. The available sources do not establish comparative success rates for any target domain, so your own permitted test is central to the decision.

Migration checklist

  1. Inventory the current implementation. Note endpoints, authentication, parameters, SDKs, output assumptions, retry behavior and any downstream parsing that expects a particular HTML or JSON shape.
  2. Choose representative pages. Include the page types, regions and JavaScript requirements that drive your real workload, not only easy pages.
  3. Map equivalent settings. Compare rendering, proxy geography, sessions, extraction and failure handling. Do not assume similarly named options behave identically.
  4. Run both integrations against the same cases. Save responses and measure usable output, latency, failures, retries and billed usage.
  5. Update error handling and parsing. Test timeouts, blocked pages, malformed or partial output, rate limits and vendor-specific error responses.
  6. Roll out gradually. Keep a rollback path until the new service meets your domain, output and cost requirements at production-like volume.

ScreenshotNeo: an alternative for screenshot capture

If the job is to capture a clean visual image or PDF of a web page rather than extract scraped records, try ScreenshotNeo first. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a like-for-like replacement for a scraping API that returns HTML, Markdown or structured data. A single GET request can return PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. It bills only clean shots: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. AI agents can use its MCP server tools, including take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf.

One-call screenshot example

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and change the target URL as needed. The API documentation is at ScreenshotNeo docs.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo includes full-page captures with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, 12 device presets and custom viewports, retina scale, PDF paper size and page options, HTML/CSS-to-image, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture, selector hiding, selector/delay/network-idle waits, request and resource blocking, custom headers/cookies/user agent/Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, configurable-TTL caching, signed public image links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification. Its parameter names also work with those used by other screenshot APIs to ease switching.

Every feature is on every plan. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots, with higher tiers at $15 for 15,000, $39 for 60,000, $99 for 250,000 and $249 for 1,000,000. Yearly billing gives two months free.

Cookie banners, popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000. FAQ

Which web scraping API is right for an AI agent?

First decide whether the agent needs extracted text or records, or only a visual screenshot. Then test candidate services against the agent’s actual target pages and output requirements, including the cost and treatment of failed requests. No provider is established as universally best by the available comparisons.

Can a screenshot API replace a web scraping API?

Not when your workflow requires parsed HTML, Markdown or structured records. A screenshot API returns a visual image or PDF; it suits visual capture tasks, while extraction requires a service or processing step that produces data.

Is ScrapingAnt’s ScraperAPI price comparison independently verified?

No. The quoted plan-credit comparison is ScrapingAnt’s own claim. Check both providers’ current plan pages and feature-based charges before making a cost decision.
