Press Ctrl+Shift+S in Microsoft Edge. Edge now calls the feature Screenshot; Microsoft’s policy documentation says it was previously named Web Capture. The command opens tools for a full-page capture or a selected area, followed by optional markup, copying, or saving.
What the Edge Web Capture shortcut does
The Ctrl+Shift+S shortcut opens Edge’s built-in Screenshot panel. It is designed for webpages rather than only the pixels currently visible in the browser window.
- Capture full page: Creates one image containing content below the visible viewport, so you do not have to scroll and stitch screenshots manually.
- Capture area: Lets you drag around a rectangle or section of the page.
- Markup: Provides pen or touch annotation after the capture.
- Copy: Places the result on the clipboard for pasting into an email, document, chat, or image editor.
- Save: Writes the image to a file using Edge’s save workflow.
Microsoft also says Screenshot keeps moving content—such as GIFs, videos, and web carousels—active while you capture, allowing you to select the frame you want rather than automatically freezing every animated element.
How to take a full webpage screenshot in Edge
- Open the webpage in Microsoft Edge and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Select Capture full page.
- Review the resulting image. If necessary, use the markup tools to draw or annotate.
- Choose Copy to put the image on the clipboard, or choose the save option to store it as an image file.
The same Screenshot command is also available from Edge’s Settings and more menu. Microsoft’s current feature information additionally lists it in the page’s right-click menu, although the exact menu presentation can vary by Edge version, device, and market.

When full-page capture is the right choice
Use Capture full page for articles, documentation, receipts, long dashboards, and other pages where information continues below the fold. It avoids the gaps, duplicated lines, and alignment problems that can result from taking several viewport screenshots.
When to capture an area instead
Choose Capture area when you need one chart, paragraph, dialog, product card, or other region. Area capture is usually easier to share when the surrounding navigation, advertisements, or unrelated page content would be distracting.
What replaced Web Capture in Microsoft Edge?
Screenshot replaced the older Web Capture name. “Web Capture” still appears in older help material and in questions people ask, but current Edge policy and product language use “Screenshot.” The keyboard command remains Ctrl+Shift+S.
This is a name change rather than a separate installation. The built-in workflow still covers full-page and selected-area captures, annotation, clipboard copying, and saving.

Microsoft’s policy documentation lists Screenshot support for Edge version 87 and later on Windows and macOS. That policy feature does not list Android or iOS support. Microsoft also warns that availability and functionality can differ by device type, market, and browser version.

If the shortcut does nothing
- Confirm that Edge is the active window and that the page has finished loading.
- Open the Settings and more menu and look for Screenshot. This verifies whether the feature is exposed in your build even when a keyboard shortcut is intercepted.
- Check your Edge version and update it through Edge’s settings if your organization permits updates.
- On a managed computer, a policy or keyboard utility may intercept the key combination. Try the menu command or the page’s right-click menu instead.
- Remember that mobile Edge is not covered by the Windows/macOS policy listing; the desktop workflow may not be available on Android or iOS.
Getting cleaner and more reliable captures
Prepare the page first
- Wait for images, charts, and expandable sections to finish loading.
- Dismiss temporary dialogs that would otherwise become part of the image.
- Set the page to the intended light or dark appearance before pressing the shortcut.
- For a moving carousel or video, pause or position it on the frame you want; Screenshot keeps moving content active.
Choose output deliberately
Use Copy for a quick paste into another application. Save the image when you need a file that can be attached, archived, or edited later. Mark up only after checking that the full-page result includes the beginning and end of the content you intended to capture.
Understand what full-page means
Full-page capture follows the webpage’s rendered document, not necessarily every item hidden behind an interaction. Content that appears only after clicking a tab, expanding an accordion, accepting a consent prompt, or scrolling to trigger a site-specific action may need to be revealed before capture.

Troubleshooting capture problems
The full-page image is incomplete
Check whether the missing content is loaded only after interaction or after a delayed network request. Expand sections and wait for images before capturing. If the site uses an unusual scrolling container rather than the document itself, select the relevant region with Capture area or use an API element capture by CSS selector.
Animations show the wrong frame
Moving content remains active in Screenshot. Pause the video or wait for the carousel to reach the desired frame, then capture again.

The image includes a popup or consent dialog
