The best Square plugin depends on what you are building. For a WooCommerce shop that needs shared products and stock, start with WooCommerce Square. For broader third-party synchronization, compare WC Shop Sync. For Square-hosted checkout across several WordPress tools, consider Connect Square Payments. WPForms and Gravity Forms are better for payment or donation forms than for full catalogs. GiveWP may suit nonprofits, but its current Square gateway status needs verification.
The available documentation does not support an honest list of seven fully confirmed products. This guide covers five documented integrations, one donation-focused lead to check, and the checks to perform before connecting a live Square account.

1. WooCommerce Square: the clearest starting point for a store
WooCommerce Square combines a payment gateway with catalog and inventory synchronization between Square and WooCommerce. That makes it the strongest documented starting point when WooCommerce is already your store platform and you also sell through Square in person.
What it supports
- Payment methods documented by WooCommerce include cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Square gift cards and Cash App Pay, subject to feature and regional availability.
- Square and WooCommerce products and stock can be synchronized rather than maintained in two unrelated catalogs.
- Cash App and gift cards cannot be used for subscription or pre-order products that require future charges, according to WooCommerce’s payment documentation.
Eligibility checks
WooCommerce’s payment-settings documentation lists the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, Spain, France and Japan. It also lists matching Square and store currencies, SSL, PHP 7.4 or newer, WordPress 5.8 or newer and WooCommerce 6.8 or newer. The separate product page can carry newer requirements, so check both pages against the version you intend to install.

- Use the, easy-to-use, and customizable POS to get started.
2. WC Shop Sync: a broader third-party synchronization option
The WC Shop Sync listing advertises Square payments plus product, inventory, customer, order and sale-price synchronization. That scope may be useful when payment acceptance alone is not enough.
What to verify before choosing it
- Which customer and order features require a paid tier.
- Whether sync runs one way or both ways, and how conflicts are resolved.
- How variable products, stock reservations and sale prices are handled.
- Supported WordPress, WooCommerce and Square versions, support terms and rollback options.
The listing’s changelog records fixes involving payments, inventory and product sync. A current changelog shows activity, not guaranteed reliability; test a copy of the store before enabling live synchronization.
3. Connect Square Payments: Square-hosted checkout for multiple tools
Connect Square Payments sends customers to Square’s hosted payment page instead of using the same native checkout path as the official WooCommerce extension. Its directory description lists WooCommerce, Paid Memberships Pro, Fluent Forms, Contact Form 7, WPForms, Ninja Forms, Formidable Forms, MetForm, SureForms, Forminator, payment links and Square Subscriptions.

- With Square Terminal, you can ring up sales, accept payments, and print receipts, all with one device. Use it at the counter or ring up customers anywhere in your store.
- Accept all major credit and debit cards and pay one low rate with no hidden fees and no long-term contracts.
- Process chip cards in just two seconds.
- Get your money as soon as the next business day.
- Use it cordlessly with the built-in battery, designed to last all day.
When the redirect model makes sense
Hosted checkout can be practical for a site that combines a shop, memberships and several form systems, or that prefers Square to handle the payment page. Confirm the customer return flow, the exact tool integration and current plan limits. Do not describe this third-party plugin as an official WooCommerce integration, and do not assume every listed feature is free.

The WPForms Square add-on is aimed at custom forms rather than catalog and stock management. WPForms documents one-time payments, recurring transactions, conditional payment logic and payment records in the WordPress admin.
Good uses
- Service invoices or appointment deposits.
- Simple product or event payments.
- Conditional donations where different answers change the amount.
- Recurring charges when the form and Square account support the required setup.
Access requires a WPForms Pro license or higher. WPForms says it does not add a Square-specific processing fee, while Square’s seller fees still apply; consult Square’s current pricing for live rates. Follow WPForms’ recommendation to run a test payment before launch, using the provider’s test mode.
Rank #3
- Get your money as soon as the next business day.
- Get set up quickly with no long-term commitments. Download the Square Point of Sale app for free, create an account, and start taking payments anywhere.
- Run your business all in one place with the free Square Point of Sale app. Track your sales, manage inventory, accept tips, send receipts digitally, and more.
- Works with Apple devices with a Lightning connector.
5. Gravity Forms Square: advanced form payment workflows
The official Gravity Forms Square integration supports one-time payments, recurring subscriptions, authorization with delayed capture and refunds. It is a form-builder add-on, not a product or inventory synchronization system.
Requirements that affect the decision
- Gravity Forms says the add-on is included with Pro, Elite and Nonprofit licenses.
- Your form needs pricing and Square fields, plus name, email and address fields, as described in the setup documentation.
- The Square account currency must match the currency configured in Gravity Forms.
This is a strong fit when you already use Gravity Forms and need subscriptions, refunds or an authorize-now/capture-later workflow. License prices and renewal terms change, so check the current vendor pages rather than comparing old figures.

The GiveWP directory description identifies a donation and fundraising platform and names Square among gateway integrations. The available information does not establish whether a specific Square add-on is currently available, maintained, included in a plan or capable of recurring donations.
Rank #4
- Pay one transparent rate per swipe for Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
- Works in conjunction with most downloadable Square point-of-sale apps on your device. Customers can pay, tip and sign directly on your device. Track payments in cash, gift cards and more. Also lets you send receipts via e-mail or text message, makes it easy to apply discounts, keeps a data and sales history log and more.
- Accepts magstripe credit card payments, including those from Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express (fees apply).
- App sends deposits to your bank account within 1 to 2 business days, or enjoy instant deposits (fees apply).
Verification checklist
- Find the current Square gateway/add-on page and its last maintenance date.
- Confirm licensing, supported merchant countries and currency requirements.
- Check one-time and recurring donation behavior and refund handling.
- Test donor receipts, webhooks and failed-payment recovery before going live.
Until those points are confirmed, treat GiveWP as a possible nonprofit route rather than a fully verified recommendation.

Choose a catalog-and-stock workflow
Use WooCommerce Square first when WooCommerce is your system of record and you need shared products and inventory. Compare WC Shop Sync if you specifically need the additional customer, order or sale-price functions its developer advertises.
Choose a hosted payment page
Use Connect Square Payments when a Square-hosted redirect is acceptable and you need one plugin spanning multiple WordPress tools. Confirm plan gates and the post-payment return experience.
Best Value
- With Square Handheld, you can accept payments, take tableside orders, or scan barcodes anywhere. With a slim design and comfortable grip, the POS is easy to carry in your palm or pocket. Square Handheld is designed to withstand water splashes and dust. Add an optional protective case for accidental drops. A long-lasting battery and offline payments let you keep selling.
- Slim, pocketable, and lightweight so you can accept payments wherever your customers are.
- Take tableside orders, bust lines, or use the built-in barcode scanner, all with one sleek device.
- A battery that can power through your shift and offline payments let you keep selling, even if your internet is down.
- Accept all major credit and debit cards and pay one simple rate with no hidden fees and no long-term contracts required.
Choose a form workflow
Use WPForms Square if you already build forms with WPForms. Use Gravity Forms Square when its licensing and advanced authorization, refund or recurring features match your workflow.
Choose a donation platform
Investigate GiveWP only after confirming that its Square gateway is current and maintained. A generic payment form may be safer if that verification fails.
Pre-launch checklist
- Confirm that Square supports your merchant country, currency and intended payment methods.
- Update WordPress, WooCommerce or your form builder to versions supported by the current integration documentation.
- Enable SSL and configure matching currency settings wherever the integration requires them.
- Map products, variations, taxes, stock and order status before enabling synchronization.
- Use test mode to submit successful, failed, refunded and recurring transactions.
- Check webhooks, customer emails, inventory changes and the return path from hosted checkout.
- Back up the site and document how to pause synchronization or disconnect Square.
Why there are not seven confirmed recommendations
The documented options above cover five clearly identifiable integration products and one unresolved donation-platform lead. The available evidence does not establish a seventh distinct, current Square plugin with enough official or directory documentation to recommend. Adding an unverified product would make the list longer but less reliable.
