To save a website as a PNG, use your browser’s built-in screenshot tool. In Firefox, right-click the page, choose Take Screenshot, select Save full page or Save visible, and click Download. Microsoft Edge offers a similar Screenshot command with a full-page option. These methods require no extension and capture the page below the fold.
Choose the type of PNG you need
Decide whether the image should show only the current viewport or the complete document before you capture it.

A full-page capture does not always include content inside a nested scrolling panel. If a dashboard has its own scroll bar, capture that panel separately or use an element-specific command.
Save a full webpage as PNG in Firefox
- Open the webpage you want to capture.
- Right-click an empty area of the page. On macOS, Control-click. Choose Take Screenshot. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- In the screenshot toolbar, select Save full page for the complete document. Choose Save visible if you only need the current viewport.
- Click Download. Firefox saves the image in your default download folder with a
.pngextension.
Mozilla describes the full-page control as “Select Save full page in the upper right corner.” The resulting PNG is a static image; links, forms, and buttons are not interactive.

If Take Screenshot is missing
Make sure you right-click the page itself rather than a browser toolbar or a restricted embedded frame. You can also open Firefox Developer Tools and use the screenshot command described below.
Save a full webpage as PNG in Microsoft Edge
- Open the target page.
- Right-click the page and choose Screenshot. You can also open Screenshot from the Edge Settings menu or press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose the full-page capture option.
- Review the captured image, then use the overlay menu to copy it or save it to disk.
Microsoft says Edge Screenshot can capture “the parts you would have to scroll to see.” It also describes keeping moving content such as GIFs or carousels on screen during capture. Dynamic content can still change while the image is being assembled, so pause animation when visual consistency matters.
Use Firefox Developer Tools for filenames, delays, DPI, or selectors
Firefox’s Web Console includes a :screenshot helper with controls that the basic toolbar does not expose. Open Developer Tools, select the Console tab, and run a command such as:

If the screenshot icon is not visible in the Developer Tools toolbar, open Toolbox settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page. Selector captures are useful for nested panels that a document-level full-page command cannot stitch correctly.
Prepare the page before you capture
- Wait for lazy-loaded images, web fonts, and charts to finish. Scroll through the page once if that is how the site triggers loading.
- Pause videos, carousels, and animated backgrounds when you need a repeatable image. A moving page can produce different frames in different captures.
- Close cookie dialogs, newsletter prompts, and chat widgets if they obscure the content you need. If the overlay is part of the bug you are documenting, leave it visible and record that context.
- For authenticated pages, confirm that the browser is using the intended account and that private information is not visible before sharing the PNG.
- Check the final pixel dimensions. A very long page can create a tall image that is difficult to open or upload; an element capture or a series of visible captures may be more practical.
When printing is better than a PNG
Use printing when your goal is a document or PDF rather than a pixel-accurate image. In Edge, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS. If the print preview loses page colors, enable Background graphics. Printing to PDF does not produce a PNG by itself; use one of the screenshot workflows when the required deliverable is an image.

Troubleshooting PNG captures
The image stops at the visible viewport
You selected a visible-area mode. Reopen the Firefox or Edge screenshot tool and choose its full-page option, or run Firefox’s :screenshot --fullpage command.
Images or fonts are missing
The page was captured before lazy resources finished loading. Wait longer, scroll to trigger lazy loading, disable animation, and capture again. In an automated request, use a selector wait, delay, or network-idle wait.
A scrolling panel is cut off
The panel has its own scrolling context. Capture the panel with Firefox’s --selector switch or use an element selector in ScreenshotNeo instead of asking for the entire document.

Animated ads, carousels, live data, and rotating banners can change while the screenshot is assembled. Pause the animation or hide the changing selectors; for automated jobs, wait for a stable selector and use a consistent viewport and device-pixel ratio.
The PNG is unexpectedly huge
Long pages and high device-pixel-ratio settings create very tall, dense files. Capture a specific element, reduce the device-pixel ratio, resize the image, or use several logical sections rather than one enormous canvas.
