How to Save a LinkedIn Profile as a PDF

On a desktop browser, open the LinkedIn profile, select More beside the profile header, and choose Save to PDF. LinkedIn downloads a PDF copy you can review, store, or attach to an application. The same control may appear when you view another member’s profile. LinkedIn documents the workflow in its profile-to-PDF tutorial.

Save a LinkedIn profile as a PDF on desktop

The desktop website is the clearest documented way to export a profile. Use a current browser and sign in to LinkedIn before starting.

  1. Open LinkedIn and navigate to the profile you want to save.
  2. Near the profile header, select More.
  3. Choose Save to PDF. In LinkedIn’s Spanish-language interface, the command is labeled Más > Guardar como PDF.
  4. Wait for the download to finish, open the file, and inspect the pages before you send or archive it.

The control can be available for your own profile or for another member’s profile. Its presence depends on what LinkedIn currently exposes for that account and view, so use it only when the option is actually shown. The desktop steps are also described by a May 2025 guide from Suneel Maghani (desktop and phone instructions).

What LinkedIn puts in the PDF

LinkedIn’s tutorial describes the export as a resume-style representation of the profile. Depending on what the member has filled in and made visible, the document can include:

  • name, headline, and location;
  • contact details;
  • skills and languages;
  • certifications;
  • work experience; and
  • education.

The PDF reflects the profile at the time you export it. Update the profile first if you are preparing your own application copy, then export again after making material changes. A download is not a live document: later edits on LinkedIn will not change the file already saved on your computer.

Desktop versus phone: which method is dependable?

Method What is established Practical choice
Desktop browser LinkedIn’s tutorial documents the More > Save to PDF workflow, including exporting another member’s profile when the control is available. Use this first when formatting and a predictable download matter.
LinkedIn mobile app A May 2025 third-party guide reports that direct PDF download is not available in every app case. Its suggested sharing route is not confirmed by LinkedIn’s tutorial. Treat mobile behavior as dependent on the current app and device; switch to a desktop browser if the command is absent.

There is no single mobile workflow that can be guaranteed from the available LinkedIn-authored instructions. App labels and capabilities can change with operating-system and app versions, so avoid assuming that a phone share sheet will produce the same PDF as the desktop export.

If “Save to PDF” is missing

Check the profile header menu

Return to the top of the profile and open More beside the header rather than a browser’s page menu. Scroll position and responsive layouts can hide profile actions until the header is visible.

Try a desktop browser

If you are in the mobile app or a narrow mobile browser window, sign in through a desktop browser and repeat the steps. The desktop path is the best-supported workflow in the cited instructions.

Allow for interface changes

LinkedIn can move or rename controls. The exact account, region, and app-version restrictions were not established in the cited material, so a missing command does not by itself indicate a problem with your profile. Look for an updated profile action menu and try again later if LinkedIn is temporarily changing the interface.

Confirm you are viewing a profile

The export command belongs to a member’s profile view. It will not appear on a search-results page, a company page, or a feed post. Open the complete member profile before checking More.

Inspect the file before sharing it

Check content and layout

Open the downloaded PDF page by page. Confirm that the name, headline, dates, job titles, education, skills, and contact details are correct. Look for clipped text, empty sections, awkward page breaks, or missing characters before attaching it to an application.

Look at the profile URL

LinkedIn’s tutorial warns that an accented character in a profile URL can render as unreadable characters in the PDF. If the URL is important, zoom in on that line in the exported file. A simpler custom public-profile URL may improve readability.

Remove or update sensitive details

Contact information and other profile fields can be included in the export. Decide whether each detail belongs in the copy you are distributing. LinkedIn’s User Agreement explains that information shared on its services may be seen, copied, and used by others, subject to the applicable visibility settings. A PDF can be forwarded outside LinkedIn, so treat it as a separate document with its own audience.

Saving someone else’s LinkedIn profile

LinkedIn’s own tutorial says the PDF control can work on another member’s profile as well as your own, but only when LinkedIn exposes Save to PDF for that view. Before redistributing another person’s profile, consider why you need the copy, whether the profile is intended for public viewing, and whether the person would reasonably expect a downloadable version. Keep the file in an access-controlled location and do not treat a public profile as permission to publish a person’s details elsewhere.

Using the PDF for a CV or application

LinkedIn’s student career playbook presents downloading a CV as a PDF from the profile as part of career preparation (LinkedIn for students PDF). The export is useful as a starting document, but review it for the specific role: reorder emphasis in your application materials, remove irrelevant sections, and check that contact details are current. Keep the original LinkedIn export unchanged if you need a dated record, then make a separate, tailored copy for submission.

Or skip the browser setup: capture a public profile with ScreenshotNeo

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It can capture a publicly accessible LinkedIn profile without you scripting a browser. A screenshot is useful when you need a visual record of the page; ScreenshotNeo also supports PDF capture, paper size, margins, landscape mode, and page ranges through its documented controls.

For a public profile URL that does not require an interactive sign-in, the basic request is:

ScreenshotNeo API documentation

cURL

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.linkedin.com/in/your-public-profile -o profile.webp

Python

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={
        "access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY",
        "url": "https://www.linkedin.com/in/your-public-profile"
    },
    timeout=90
)
r.raise_for_status()
open("profile.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js

const q = new URLSearchParams({
  access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY',
  url: 'https://www.linkedin.com/in/your-public-profile'
});
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`HTTP ${res.status}`);
const data = Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer());
require('fs').writeFileSync('profile.webp', data);

Use a public URL you are allowed to access and follow LinkedIn’s terms. A profile that requires a login, presents a bot challenge, or blocks automated access may not produce the same result as the signed-in LinkedIn export. For PDF-specific output and options, select the PDF settings described in the ScreenshotNeo documentation.

Why ScreenshotNeo can be useful for this workflow

  • Before capture, it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets. Each cleanup step can be turned off.
  • Only clean shots are billed. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
  • An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
  • The API supports full-page captures with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element capture, device presets, custom viewports, retina scale, custom CSS and JavaScript, clicks, waits, request blocking, headers, cookies, user agents, authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, TTL-based caching, signed links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification.

For reliability, save the response headers with your output when you need to know whether a request was billed or cached. If the result is blank, blocked, or incomplete, first verify that the URL is publicly reachable without a LinkedIn session; then inspect the verdict headers and adjust waiting, viewport, or blocking options in the documentation. Never put an API key in client-side page code or a public repository.

You can start with 1,000 screenshots per month free, with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account to get an access key.

Quick troubleshooting checklist

  • No menu item: open the full profile in a desktop browser and inspect More again.
  • Mobile export unavailable: use the desktop workflow; mobile support varies by app and device.
  • Unreadable URL characters: inspect the exported PDF and consider a simpler custom public-profile URL.
  • Wrong or stale details: update the LinkedIn profile, export a fresh copy, and recheck every page.
  • ScreenshotNeo returns a challenge or blank page: use a publicly accessible profile URL, review the page-verdict headers, and remember that such failed captures are not billed.
  • API request fails immediately: confirm that the access key is present, the URL is URL-encoded, and your client allows a 90-second request timeout.
