The five-step method
- Open the content you want to capture. Scroll to a sensible starting position and close anything you do not want included.
- Take a normal screenshot. Press Volume Down + Power together, swipe down with three fingers, or open Control Center and tap Screenshot.
- Tap Scroll in the upper-right corner of the screenshot preview. The phone will begin extending the capture beyond the visible screen.
- Choose the endpoint. Allow the page to move down automatically, or scroll upward yourself until the image contains exactly the content you need.
- Tap DONE, then tap the check mark. Xiaomi saves the long screenshot as a single image.
The important detail is that Scroll appears only after a normal screenshot; it is not normally a separate button in the camera or Gallery app.
Ways to start the first screenshot
Volume Down and Power
Press Volume Down and Power at the same time and release quickly. Holding the buttons too long can open the power menu or change the volume instead of creating a screenshot.
Three-finger swipe
Swipe down with three fingers on the screen. If nothing happens, the gesture may be disabled. Open Settings > Additional settings > Gesture shortcuts > Take a screenshot and enable the three-finger screenshot option.

Control Center
Open Control Center and tap Screenshot. This route is useful when a case makes the hardware buttons difficult to press or when you prefer on-screen controls.
The exact labels and available shortcut switches can differ between Xiaomi models and between MIUI and HyperOS releases. If one route is missing, use another route and then look for Scroll in the resulting preview.
Controlling the length of the capture
Automatic movement
After you tap Scroll, Xiaomi can move the page downward by itself. Watch the preview while it advances. When the required content is included, stop the process and tap DONE.
Manual endpoint
You can move upward yourself to control where the long image ends. This is useful for an article, settings page, chat transcript or receipt where you need to stop immediately after a particular section rather than capture everything available.

Saving the result
DONE confirms the selected endpoint; it does not replace the final save action. Tap the check mark afterward. Open Gallery and look for the resulting long image in the screenshots section.
Why Scroll may be missing or gray
The interface does not support scrolling capture
Xiaomi states that some interfaces do not support long screenshots. In those cases, the Scroll control can be unavailable or gray even though ordinary screenshots work. This is a limitation of the current app or screen, not necessarily a fault with your phone.
The screenshot preview was dismissed
If you swipe away or close the screenshot preview, take the screenshot again. The Scroll control belongs to that preview and normally cannot be opened later from Gallery.
The phone software uses different wording
MIUI and HyperOS versions, regional builds and individual Xiaomi models can place the control differently. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 14 Pro instructions use the same sequence: open Control Center, tap Screenshot, choose Scroll; alternatively use an enabled gesture or button shortcut, take a normal screenshot, and then tap Scroll.

A third-party app shows an unexpected preview page
If the captured app image contains an app preview page, Xiaomi attributes that behavior to the third-party app rather than the phone software. Check the app’s own display or sharing settings and try the capture again. See Xiaomi’s explanation at this support page.
Fixing a long screenshot that will not save
Gallery cannot view the image
Gallery Editor may not have permission to access the folder required for the screenshot. Review the app’s storage or photos-and-videos permissions in Android settings, then reopen Gallery and try again.
The capture stops before the expected content
Some screens expose only a limited scrollable region to the system capture tool. Try starting at the top of that region, use the manual endpoint, and avoid switching between nested panels while the capture is running. If Scroll remains gray, the interface may simply be unsupported.
The page moves but the final image is incomplete
Wait for the page to finish loading before taking the first screenshot. Images or sections that appear only after a delay may not be present when the capture begins. For a very long page, make several shorter captures if the app repeatedly stops at the same point.

Troubleshooting checklist

Getting cleaner, more useful results
- Dismiss cookie notices, keyboards and temporary menus before the first screenshot if they are not part of the record you need.
- Start at the top of the exact section you want. The long image follows the page’s scroll order; it does not reconstruct content that was never loaded.
- Stop at a natural boundary such as the end of an article, receipt or settings section. Extremely long captures are harder to read and share.
- Review the saved image for private data before sending it. A long screenshot can include account names, notification text or information that was below the initial viewport.
- If the target is a document or web page that offers its own PDF or export command, that original export may preserve text more reliably than a raster screenshot.
