Firefox then asks where to save the PDF. On Android, use the three-dots menu → Share → Save as PDF → Download; the file goes to Downloads. Firefox for iOS has PDF saving through its full-page screenshot feature, documented for Firefox for iOS 109.
The controls differ by platform, and print preview can change pagination, backgrounds and scale. The steps below show the built-in method, where files are stored, how to fix common layout problems, and when an automated service is more practical.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Firefox on desktop
Firefox’s built-in print workflow works on Windows, macOS and Linux. It saves the rendered page as a PDF instead of a bookmark or a web archive.
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Click the Firefox menu button and choose Print…. Firefox opens print preview.
- In Destination, select Save to PDF.
- Set the page range, orientation, color mode, paper size, scale, margins and headers or footers. Enable background printing if you need the page’s colors or background images.
- If the preview offers Original and Simplified, choose the format that fits your purpose. Simplified removes much of the page furniture but does not allow print backgrounds.
- Click Print. In the operating system’s save dialog, choose a filename and folder, then confirm.
The resulting file is a normal PDF that you can open, move or share with any compatible PDF application. The PDF may not look exactly like the live page: websites can apply print-specific styles, split content across pages, or omit interactive elements.

Choose the right desktop print-preview settings
Make changes while watching the preview. A setting that fixes one problem can create another, so check page breaks before saving.

Original versus Simplified
Original keeps the page’s normal print appearance and is the better starting point for branded pages, charts and color-coded content. Turn on background printing when the preview shows missing colors or images.
Simplified is useful for a cluttered article with navigation, ads or sidebars. Because Simplified disables print backgrounds, use Original if visual fidelity is more important than removing page furniture.
Saving a single image
To make a PDF of an image rather than the surrounding webpage, open the image in a new tab (or view the background image) and print that tab. Printing the article page itself can include captions, navigation and unrelated elements.

- Open the target page in Firefox for Android.
- Tap the three-dots toolbar menu.
- Tap Share.
- Tap Save as PDF.
- Tap Download in the confirmation pop-up.
- When the download completes, tap Open to send it to an installed PDF app, or later open Firefox’s menu and tap Downloads.
Android saves the result as a downloaded PDF in the device’s Downloads folder. The same process works when the page you opened is itself a PDF file linked from a webpage. If you cannot open the result, install or select a compatible PDF viewer, then reopen the file from Downloads or Firefox’s Downloads list.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Firefox for iPhone or iPad
Mozilla’s Firefox for iOS 109 release notes, first offered January 17, 2023, document full-page screenshots that can be saved as PDFs. This is a version-dated capability rather than a current step-by-step support page, so labels can differ in the Firefox version installed on your device.

- Look for the page’s share action or screenshot action.
- Choose the full-page option when it is offered, then save or share the resulting PDF.
- Check the iOS Files app to confirm where the document was stored.
If your current iOS build does not show a full-page or PDF option, update Firefox and iOS where available, or use the desktop or Android workflow for the same page.

When Firefox’s built-in export is not enough
Remove clutter from an article
Use Simplified format when it is offered. It can produce a more readable article PDF, but it cannot preserve print backgrounds. If the page’s design carries meaning, stay with Original and adjust backgrounds, scale and margins instead.

Export a selection or use article-reader controls
Mozilla Add-ons lists a Web to PDF extension that advertises full-page, article/reader-mode and selection export, along with five paper sizes, orientation, margins, scale and background controls. Treat it as an optional extension path when the built-in print dialog does not expose the portion or format you need; it is not required for ordinary PDF saving.
Capture a page repeatedly or from a script
Manual print dialogs are slow for scheduled reports, many URLs or server-side workflows. A screenshot API can make the request from code and return an image or PDF without opening Firefox. Firefox PDF troubleshooting
The PDF is missing colors or background images
In desktop print preview, enable background printing and use Original format. Simplified format disables backgrounds by design.
The page is cut off or columns overlap
Try landscape orientation, a smaller scale, a larger paper size or wider margins. Check the preview after each change because pagination can shift.
You only need a few pages
Use the Pages control in desktop print preview and verify the selected range before clicking Print.
The PDF contains ads, navigation or a newsletter box
Choose Simplified format when it is available. If the page’s colors matter, keep Original and use any site-provided print layout instead.
Android says it cannot open the file
Firefox hands the downloaded PDF to an installed application. Select a compatible PDF viewer, then open the file again from Downloads or Firefox’s Downloads list.
The iPhone or iPad menu does not match these steps
The full-page PDF capability is documented for Firefox for iOS 109, and current labels can vary. Look for a share or screenshot action, choose full page when available, and verify the saved document in Files.
The saved PDF does not include interactive content
A PDF is a fixed rendition of the page at capture time. Links may remain clickable depending on the page and print engine, but live forms, menus and other interactive behavior are not preserved as a working webpage.
