For images on one Firefox page, the practical bulk-download method is the Download All Images add-on from Mozilla Add-ons. Install it from Firefox’s Extensions and Themes area, open it on the page you need, review the gallery, filter or select the files, and save them to Firefox’s download folder or a subfolder.
Firefox itself can save an individual image or an entire page for offline reading, but it does not provide a built-in command that extracts every image from a page. The add-on is page-level: load the content you want first, especially lazy-loaded galleries or sections revealed by clicks.
What you need before downloading
- A current desktop installation of Firefox.
- The target page open in a tab, with any required login completed.
- Permission to download and reuse the images. Copyright, licensing and a site’s terms still apply.
- Enough disk space for the selected files.
The add-on listing is currently version 0.8.6, updated June 30, 2026. It reports 105,798 users and a 3.9-star rating from 655 reviews on Mozilla Add-ons; those figures change over time and do not prove that every page or Firefox configuration will work.
Install Download All Images in Firefox
- Open Firefox’s menu and choose Extensions and Themes. You can also go to Mozilla Add-ons in a tab and search for Download All Images.
- Open the add-on’s listing and select Add to Firefox. Review the permission prompt before accepting it.
- After installation, open the Extensions button (the puzzle-piece icon). Use the pin control if you want the add-on permanently visible on the toolbar.
The listing says the extension requires permission to download files, read and modify download history, display notifications, and access data for all websites. Those permissions are broad because the tool must inspect pages and create downloads. Install it only if that scope is appropriate for you, and remove it later from Extensions and Themes if you no longer need it.

Download every image found on the current page
- Open the page containing the pictures. Scroll through the page and open tabs, accordions or galleries that contain images you want included. This gives Firefox a chance to load content that appears only after interaction.
- Open the Download All Images extension from the toolbar or Extensions menu.
- Wait for its gallery view to populate. The listing says it can find images in the current page, nested iframes, links, background scripts and CSS files.
- Use the gallery controls to filter by file size, pixel dimensions, URL or image type. Preview the results and deselect logos, icons, tracking pixels or other files you do not want.
- Select the remaining images and choose the save/download command. The extension says selected files go to Firefox’s default download directory or to a subfolder you specify.
- Open Firefox’s Downloads panel to confirm that the transfers completed. Check a few files at full size before closing the tab.
Choose the destination folder
In Firefox, open Settings > General > Files and Applications > Downloads. You can select a fixed folder or enable the option to ask where to save each file. The extension’s own subfolder choice is separate from Firefox’s general download preference, so verify both when organizing a large batch.
Why filtering matters
A modern page may expose several versions of one picture: thumbnails, responsive sizes, icons, CSS backgrounds and images inside links. Filtering by dimensions or file type is usually faster than downloading everything and cleaning it afterward. Filtering by URL can help keep files from the site’s image host while excluding third-party assets.
What the extension can and cannot capture
Sources it says it can inspect
- Images directly present in the current document.
- Images inside nested iframes.
- Images referenced by links.
- Background images discovered through scripts or CSS.
Page-level limits
This is not a crawler for an entire domain. Its listing describes images associated with the current page, not every image on every URL in a site. It also does not promise access to content that Firefox cannot load, content behind an authentication wall, or images that remain undiscovered until an interaction occurs. Load the relevant gallery, expand hidden sections and complete any legitimate sign-in before opening the extension.
Lazy loading deserves special attention. Scroll through long pages so deferred images are requested, then reopen or refresh the extension’s gallery. If a site creates images only after a button click, perform that click first. These steps improve what is available to a page-level extractor, but they cannot guarantee that every inaccessible resource will appear.

Firefox’s built-in options
Save one image
For a single file, right-click the image and choose Firefox’s ordinary image-save command. This is the simplest option when you need one original image and do not want to grant an extension broad website access.
Save a page for offline reading
Firefox’s save-content help covers saving an entire web page for offline use. That workflow is different from extracting a clean folder of image files: it may create an HTML document and supporting resources rather than a conveniently selected image set.
Why the add-on is the documented bulk workflow
Firefox does not expose a native “download all images” command. The add-on’s gallery, filters and selection step provide the review stage that a one-image context-menu save lacks.
Permissions, privacy and responsible use
- Website access: “Access data for all websites” allows the extension to inspect pages where you invoke it. Review the publisher information and keep the extension updated through Firefox’s Add-ons Manager.
- Download access: Download and download-history permissions are needed to create files and report their status, but they also mean the extension can interact with browser downloads.
- Notifications: Notifications can report completion or errors. Disable them in Firefox if you do not want desktop alerts.
- Copyright: Downloading a file does not grant republication rights. Follow the image owner’s license, attribution requirements and any applicable site terms.
Troubleshooting missing or failed downloads
The gallery is empty
Confirm that the tab showing the target page is active, then reload the page and reopen the extension. If the page is a PDF, a browser-internal page, or a site that blocks script access, the extension may not have normal document content to inspect. Try a standard HTML page and check whether the images are visible in Firefox first.

Only thumbnails appear
Scroll through the page, open the image viewer or select the “original” control supplied by the site, and then run the extension again. Use its dimension and URL filters to distinguish thumbnails from larger variants. The listing does not promise that a site’s original, unlinked file can always be inferred.
Images inside a carousel or iframe are missing
Advance the carousel and make sure the frame’s content has loaded before opening the gallery. Nested iframes are listed as supported, but a frame blocked by the site’s security policy or requiring a separate login may remain unavailable.
Too many irrelevant files are selected
Sort or filter by type, URL, dimensions and size. Deselect interface icons, tracking graphics and duplicate responsive variants in the preview before saving.
Downloads went to the wrong folder
Open Settings > General > Files and Applications > Downloads and check the selected directory and the “always ask” option. Also inspect the extension’s subfolder setting and Firefox’s Downloads panel for the actual path.

Firefox reports a blocked or failed download
Check available disk space, filename restrictions and the destination folder’s write permissions. Retry a small selection first. If the page itself requires a login, a temporary token or an anti-bot challenge, the extension cannot be expected to bypass that access control; use the page normally and download only resources you are authorized to obtain.
Duplicate names or overwritten files
Save into a dedicated subfolder and inspect Firefox’s duplicate-file prompt. Keep the URL filter or a manifest of selected URLs if you need to distinguish two files that share a visible filename.
How this method compares with other approaches
| Approach | What it handles | Review and filtering | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Download All Images | Current page, nested iframes, linked images, CSS/background and script-referenced images, according to its listing | Gallery preview plus filters for size, dimensions, URL and type | Page-level scope; inaccessible or not-yet-loaded content may be absent |
| Firefox image context menu | One image at a time | Manual choice per image | Slow for a large set |
| Firefox save-page workflow | Page and supporting offline-reading resources | Not an image-selection gallery | Does not provide a focused bulk image folder |
| ScreenshotNeo | A rendered screenshot or PDF of a URL | Capture options rather than original-file extraction | Produces a visual capture, not the source images as separate downloads |
Use the extension when you need the image files associated with one page. Use a screenshot service when the deliverable is a faithful visual record of the rendered page.

If you need a rendered copy of a page rather than its individual source images, ScreenshotNeo makes one GET request and returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before capture it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. It also provides an MCP server for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients with take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools.
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for parameters. Replace the example URL with the page you are allowed to capture:

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Download All Images preserve EXIF metadata?
The Mozilla Add-ons listing describes discovery, filtering and saving, but does not state how EXIF or other embedded metadata is preserved. Check a downloaded file’s properties if metadata matters.
Can I schedule the extension to download a site every night?
No scheduling or unattended, site-wide automation is documented in the listing. It is described as a tool you open for the current Firefox page.
Can I use a screenshot instead of downloading originals?
Yes, when a visual record is sufficient. ScreenshotNeo returns a rendered PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF; it does not turn a page into separate original image files.
