The clearest documented way to add a donor leaderboard in WordPress is with Charitable Pro: insert its Donor Leaderboard block, add its shortcode, or place a leaderboard field in the Visual Campaign Builder. GiveWP and Donation Platform for WooCommerce offer alternatives if your site already uses those donation systems. Before publishing, decide what donor information to display and confirm that the plugin’s sorting and campaign filters match what you mean by “leaderboard.”
Choose a leaderboard that fits your donation setup
A leaderboard is provided by a donation plugin, not by WordPress itself. Start with the fundraising plugin already handling donations, then check whether its display can rank donors in the way you want. A donor wall may show donor details without ranking them, so verify sorting rather than relying on the feature name.
| Option | Documented placement | Relevant controls and considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Charitable Pro | Gutenberg block, shortcode, or Visual Campaign Builder field | Campaign or all campaigns; list or card view; donor count; display and styling settings; date range and minimum donation. The documented requirement is Charitable Pro 1.8.9.3 or later. |
| GiveWP Donor Wall | Block or shortcode | Can display company, form, avatar, name, and comments. The documentation says donors appear when they have not opted in to “Anonymous Donations.” A donor wall is not necessarily a ranked leaderboard. |
| Donation Platform for WooCommerce | [wcdp_leaderboard] shortcode |
Can filter by donation product, set a limit, sort by date or total, style the output, paginate, and show a fallback message. Its product-oriented filtering suits donations handled through WooCommerce. |
If you use GiveWP for peer-to-peer fundraising, its March 3, 2023 announcement described Team Leaderboard and Fundraiser Leaderboard blocks and shortcode equivalents. Check that the current add-on version still provides the feature you need before choosing that route: GiveWP’s Peer-to-Peer Version 1.6.0 announcement.
Add a Charitable leaderboard
Check the requirements
Charitable’s documentation requires Charitable Pro version 1.8.9.3 or later. It lists WordPress 5.0 or later for Gutenberg block support and PHP 7.4 or later. The feature becomes available when Charitable Pro is activated. See the Charitable Donor Leaderboard documentation for the current feature details.

Choose one of three placement methods
- Gutenberg block: Edit the page or post, add a block, search for “Donor Leaderboard” or “Leaderboard,” and insert the Donor Leaderboard block.
- Shortcode: Add
[charitable_donor_leaderboard]to page or post content. For example,[charitable_donor_leaderboard view="card" number="12" campaign="123"]requests card view, 12 donors, and campaign ID 123. The documentation also describes shortcode use in widgets and many page builders; a theme template can calldo_shortcode. - Visual Campaign Builder: Edit the campaign, open Campaign Builder, choose Add Fields, find Leaderboard under Pro Fields, and add it. This placement uses the current campaign context by default unless overridden.
Configure and preview the display
Set the options that suit the page: list or card view, a specific campaign or all campaigns, the number of donors, whether to show avatars, amounts, or counts, styling, date range, minimum donation, pagination, title, and layout. Preview the block in the editor, then check the published page to confirm the campaign scope and donor details are right.
Use GiveWP or WooCommerce if that is already your donation system
GiveWP: account for anonymity and wall behavior
GiveWP documents a Donor Wall block and shortcode. Its wall displays donor details such as company, form, avatar, full name, and comments according to its settings; donors appear only when they have not opted in to “Anonymous Donations.” Review the anonymity choice and the fields you enable before making the wall public. The available documentation establishes a donor wall, not necessarily ranking by donation amount or another leaderboard criterion. See GiveWP’s WordPress.org plugin listing and the Donor Wall shortcode documentation.

Donation Platform for WooCommerce: set the sorting and scope
Add [wcdp_leaderboard] where the shortcode is supported. Its documented standard settings show the last ten donations. Use orderby="total" to sort by highest donation total and limit to control how many entries appear. The plugin also documents filtering by product ID, pagination with a show-more control, and a fallback message. It supports anonymous/public wording that can change the displayed name text; check the active settings and checkout wording to understand what visitors will see. Refer to the plugin’s leaderboard documentation for its shortcode options.
Review privacy and ranking before publishing
Donor visibility affects people who may have expected their contribution to remain private. Check the plugin’s anonymity controls and the wording donors see when they give, then decide which fields belong on the public page. Names, donation amounts, avatars, company details, and comments are distinct choices; showing one does not require showing all.
