Check which profile and device are managed, then ask the responsible administrator to review the screenshot policy. Do not treat this notice as the same thing as a Snapchat device ban.
What the message means
Organizations can disable screen capture through mobile-device management. The exact scope depends on the platform, whether the device is personally or organization owned, and how it was enrolled.
| Situation | What may be blocked | Who controls it |
|---|---|---|
| Personally owned Android with a Work Profile | Screen capture inside the Work Profile | Your organization’s Android Enterprise administrator |
| Company-owned Android | The Work Profile and, if configured, the personal profile too | Your organization’s administrator |
| Managed iPhone or iPad | Screenshots and other device features | The organization managing the iOS device |
| Unmanaged personal device | The available evidence does not establish a universal Snapchat-specific cause | Depends on the screen and device configuration |
Android Enterprise documents policies to Block screen captures and Circle to Search in your Work Profile
and, on company-owned devices, to Block screen captures and Circle to Search in your personal profile.
Google Workspace similarly warns that when an Apple device is managed, an administrator might restrict device features. Those are administrator controls, not ordinary Snapchat permissions.
First, identify the kind of restriction
Check where the notice appears
- Try a screenshot in another app that is clearly outside the work or school profile.
- Note whether the failure occurs only in Snapchat, throughout the Work Profile, or across the entire device.
- Record whether the phone is personally owned, company owned, or enrolled in a school-management program.
If screenshots fail across managed content, a device or profile policy is the leading explanation. If the warning appears only on one Snapchat screen, the available official material does not establish whether that screen has a separate app-level restriction. Do not assume a universal Snapchat toggle exists.

Do not confuse it with a Snapchat device ban
Snapchat Support identifies SS18 and SS06 as device-ban login errors associated with abuse or repeated violations. SS07 is a device ban associated with too many accounts on one device. These codes appear during account access and are different from a screenshot-policy notice. If you see one of them while logging in, use Snapchat’s eligible in-app appeal flow instead of changing screenshot settings.
Android: check the Work Profile and ownership
Personally owned phone with a Work Profile
- Look for a briefcase badge on Snapchat or for separate work and personal app sections. That indicates a Work Profile.
- Ask your employer or school whether screen capture is blocked in that profile. Android Enterprise allows the administrator to apply that policy.
- Test an unrelated personal-profile app. A working personal screenshot alongside a blocked work-profile screenshot points to profile scope rather than a broken camera or display.
On a personally owned device, the organization normally controls the managed profile, not every personal setting. The administrator can confirm whether Snapchat was placed in the Work Profile and whether the block applies to all work apps or selected content.
Company-owned Android
On a company-owned device, Android Enterprise permits the organization to block captures in the personal profile as well as the Work Profile. That is why a screenshot can fail even when Snapchat appears in the phone’s ordinary app area. Ask IT whether the device is fully managed and whether the restriction is intentional for the whole phone.
iPhone and iPad: inspect the management profile
Google Workspace’s documented path for a managed Apple device is:
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Device Management (the label can vary by iOS version and enrollment).
- Select the organization’s management profile.
- Review Restrictions.
You may be able to view the applied restriction, but the organization controls the profile. If the profile is supervised or the setting is enforced, deleting or altering it is not an appropriate fix; contact the administrator. Menu names can differ on current iOS and iPadOS releases, so do not infer that a missing label means the device is unmanaged.
The reliable fix: request a policy review
Send the administrator enough detail to identify the policy without asking them to guess:
- Phone or tablet model and Android or iOS version.
- Whether the device is personal, company owned, or school owned.
- Whether a Work Profile, supervision notice, or management profile is present.
- Whether screenshots fail in other managed and personal apps.
- The exact Snapchat message and the screen where it appears.
- Why you need a record, such as an approved incident report or accessibility workflow.
Ask whether the screenshot block applies to Snapchat, the entire managed profile, or the whole device, and whether there is an approved way to retain the needed information. Only the administrator can change an enforced policy.
What not to do
- Do not remove a management profile or Work Profile to evade a rule.
- Do not install modified or unauthorized Snapchat clients.
- Do not use an external camera, capture accessory, repair utility, or other purchase expecting it to override device management. The official material supports no physical-product fix.
- Do not repeatedly create accounts or retry a banned login; that can complicate an SS06, SS07, or SS18 appeal.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to capture a website you are authorized to record—not to defeat an employer’s or school’s Snapchat policy—ScreenshotNeo provides a one-request screenshot API. It accepts consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. Its response identifies the page verdict and billing result in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. An MCP server lets Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients call take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for authentication and all options. The following requests are runnable; replace the URL with a page you are permitted to capture.

ScreenshotNeo supports PNG, JPEG, WebP, and PDF output; full-page and element captures; dark mode, device presets, custom viewport and retina scale; PDF paper, margin, landscape, and page-range settings; custom CSS and JavaScript; clicks, selector waits, delays, network-idle waits; blocking ads, trackers, requests, or resource types; headers, cookies, user agents, Authorization, timezone, and geolocation; transparent backgrounds, resizing, selectable cache TTLs, signed image links, asynchronous webhooks, bulk capture for up to 100 URLs per call, usage reporting, and an OpenAPI specification. Common parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can simplify migration.
The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots; yearly billing gives two months free, and every feature is included on every plan. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account to start with the no-card allowance.
Troubleshooting checklist
“Device Management” is missing on iPhone
Labels vary by iOS version and enrollment. Check Settings for a management or supervision profile, then ask IT which profile-management route your organization uses. The absence of one menu name does not prove that no policy is applied.

Screenshots work personally but not at work
That pattern is consistent with a Work Profile restriction. Confirm that Snapchat is installed in the managed area and ask the administrator to review screen-capture policy scope.
Screenshots fail everywhere on a company phone
A company-owned Android device can enforce blocking in both profiles. Report the device ownership and failure scope to IT; a factory reset or accessory is not a supported remedy.
Snapchat shows SS06, SS07, or SS18
This is an account or device-ban login issue, not proof that an administrator disabled screenshots. Follow Snapchat Support’s in-app appeal instructions when Snapchat marks the case eligible.
Only one Snapchat screen refuses capture
Official sources do not identify the exact cause for that pattern. Document the screen, OS, ownership, and whether other apps capture normally, then ask both the administrator and Snapchat Support which policy applies.

FAQ
Can I turn this off in Snapchat settings?
There is no documented Snapchat switch in the cited official material for an administrator-enforced block. The organization managing the device or profile must review it.
Best Value
Will reinstalling Snapchat remove the restriction?
No supported evidence says that reinstalling changes a device-management policy. Reinstalling may also erase local app data without addressing the administrator control.
Is the warning proof that Snapchat banned my phone?
No. Snapchat’s documented device-ban indicators are SS06, SS07, and SS18 during login. The screenshot notice points to a different diagnostic path.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a personal phone still be managed?
Yes. A personal Android can contain an organization-controlled Work Profile, and a managed iPhone or iPad can have an organization profile. The policy scope depends on enrollment.
Can an external camera legally or technically fix it?
The official material provides no physical-product solution, and bypassing an organization’s restriction may violate its rules. Ask for an approved retention method instead.
