The first is fastest; the second is the right choice when content extends below the viewport.
Choose the capture scope first

These methods solve different problems. A normal desktop screenshot cannot include page content that has not been visible on screen, while a full-page capture may include a very tall image that is awkward to edit or share.
Capture the entire webpage with Chrome DevTools
The following sequence is the full-page procedure described in Chrome Help Community guidance. It is community guidance rather than a dedicated Chrome Help page, so labels or behavior can vary slightly between Chrome releases.
- Open the webpage in Chrome and wait until the content you need has loaded.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+I to open Developer Tools.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+P to open the DevTools command menu.
- Type Capture full size screenshot.
- Choose the command with that exact label. Chrome generates an image of the page’s full scrollable length.
- Use Chrome’s download list or download settings to locate the file. A community report placed a PNG in Downloads, but that is not a universal default location.
What “full size” means
The command is intended to capture the document beyond the current browser viewport, including sections you would normally reach by scrolling. It is not the same as photographing only what is visible in the tab. The available evidence does not establish a universal file format, exact pixel dimensions, or identical results for every page, because page layout, lazy loading, animations, and browser state can affect the output.

Before you capture
- Scroll through the page once if important images or sections load only after they enter view. Some sites defer images until they are near the viewport.
- Close menus, hover cards, cookie notices, and account popups that you do not want in the image.
- Let fonts, videos, and other moving elements settle. A capture taken during an animation can show an intermediate state.
- Make sure you are in the correct account and page state. DevTools captures what Chrome can currently render, not a separate authenticated copy.
Capture a visible area with Windows Snipping Tool
For a quick crop, Windows 10’s Snipping Tool overlay is simpler than DevTools. Microsoft documents rectangular, window, full-screen, and freeform modes for Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Open the page in Chrome and arrange the window as you want it to appear.
- Press Windows+Shift+S.
- Choose a mode from the overlay: rectangular, window, full-screen, or freeform.
- Select the area, window, or screen. The capture is copied and a Snipping Tool notification appears.
- Open the Snipping Tool window to copy, annotate, share, or save the image.
When to use each Snipping Tool mode
- Rectangular: drag around a precise part of the webpage, such as a chart or paragraph.
- Window: capture the Chrome window without manually tracing its edges.
- Full-screen: capture all visible monitors or the complete visible desktop, depending on your display setup.
- Freeform: draw an irregular outline around the content you need.
Using the Print Screen key
Microsoft also documents PrtSc as a way to place a full-screen snapshot in the clipboard and, on configured systems, open the image-capture overlay. The exact behavior depends on your Snipping Tool configuration. If pressing PrtSc does not show the overlay, use Windows+Shift+S instead.
Common problems and fixes
The full-page command is not appearing
First confirm that DevTools is open and that you pressed Ctrl+Shift+P after opening it. Type the command name rather than searching the regular Chrome address bar. If the command still does not appear, try reopening DevTools, focusing the page, and repeating the sequence. The documented guidance does not promise that every Chrome build or page context exposes the command identically.

The image contains only what I can see
That usually means a visible-area capture was taken with Snipping Tool, or that a different DevTools screenshot command was selected. Repeat the command-menu procedure and choose Capture full size screenshot, not a viewport-sized option.

Images or text are missing
Some pages load resources lazily, after scrolling or after a delay. Scroll through the page first, wait for images to appear, close overlays, and then run the full-size command again. A page that depends on interaction, a login session, or network requests may not render the same way in a single capture.
The result is too tall to use
A full-page image can be difficult to email or edit. Use Snipping Tool for a focused section, or capture several logical sections separately. If you need a document rather than one long image, a PDF workflow may be more suitable than a screenshot.

I cannot find the saved file
Open Chrome’s download list and check the browser’s configured download folder. The community report mentioning Downloads is an example, not a guaranteed location for every Windows 10 installation.
A banner or chat bubble covers the page
Dismiss the banner or widget before capturing. Snipping Tool records exactly what is visible, and DevTools captures the page state Chrome has rendered at that moment.
Windows 10 and Chrome compatibility notes
Google’s current Chrome installation guidance lists Windows 10 and later for Intel processors. Its listed ARM processor support starts with Windows 11, so the Windows 10 procedure above should not be generalized to ARM hardware without checking your Chrome and Windows support status. Keyboard shortcuts may also be intercepted by remote-desktop software, accessibility utilities, or corporate policies.
