Ahrefs Review (2026): Plans, Prices, Limits, and Who It Suits

Ahrefs is an SEO and marketing software platform with tools for researching keywords and backlinks, auditing websites, tracking rankings, and exploring AI search visibility. It offers a free option for verified website owners and paid subscriptions that expand access and usage. Whether it is a fit depends less on the headline price than on how many projects, tracked keywords, crawl credits, historical data, exports, and user seats your work requires.

What is Ahrefs?

Ahrefs brings several SEO workflows into one subscription platform. Its named tools include Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit, and rank tracking; the product also presents newer marketing and AI search visibility workflows. The free option is oriented around a website owner’s verified properties, while paid tiers broaden tool access, usage, and collaboration. See Ahrefs’ product and pricing information for the current offering.

This is a review of the software and its published plan structure, not a hands-on performance test. TechRadar’s review, published February 5, 2026, describes keyword research, rank tracking, backlink tracking, content research, site auditing, and AI search visibility, and characterizes pricing as premium with caveats. Those are TechRadar’s assessments, not independently verified test results here. Read TechRadar’s Ahrefs review.

What does Ahrefs cost in 2026?

Ahrefs’ official pricing page listed the following monthly prices when accessed September 30, 2026. They are vendor-published prices, not an independent price survey; pricing, plan names, and included limits can change, so confirm the live page before subscribing.

Option Displayed monthly price How to interpret it
Ahrefs Free Price not stated on the cited pricing snapshot; check Ahrefs’ live pricing page. Free tools centered on verified website properties; not equivalent to unrestricted paid access.
Starter $29/month Entry paid tier with narrower usage than higher plans.
Lite $129/month Paid tier with expanded limits and access over Starter.
Standard $249/month Higher usage and plan allowances than Lite.
Advanced $449/month Higher-tier limits and capabilities than Standard.
Enterprise $1,499/month Enterprise-level subscription tier.
Brand Radar AI From $199/month Listed as an AI-focused option/add-on; verify scope and eligibility on the live page.

These prices alone do not establish what a subscription will cost for a particular team’s complete workflow. The official page also distinguishes tiers by projects, tracked keywords, historical data, crawl credits, and user allowances, and its plan comparison identifies differences in credits, exports, API access, and other tools. Consult the live Ahrefs pricing page and official subscription-plan comparison for the exact current limits and any add-ons.

What’s the difference between all Ahrefs subscription plans?

Ahrefs’ plan structure is a progression from limited free use to paid subscriptions with broader usage, and optional add-ons. Its own plan-selection guide describes that progression; it is vendor-authored guidance rather than an independent assessment of value. Ahrefs’ plan-selection guide was published March 9, 2026 and reviewed by Andrei Țiți.

Free: assess a verified website

The free option is most relevant if you own or manage a website you can verify and want access to the webmaster-oriented tools. It is a practical way to get acquainted with Ahrefs, but do not assume it provides the volume, breadth, or collaboration features of a paid plan.

Starter and Lite: check volume before buying

Starter and Lite are paid entry points. They are worth considering when your work is limited in scope, but the monthly price does not tell you whether the plan accommodates your project count, keyword tracking, history needs, or crawl workload. Compare those allowances against a typical month of your actual work before choosing.

Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise: pay for expanded operating room

These higher tiers are aimed at users or teams whose work needs more capacity, access, or collaboration than lower plans provide. Check the applicable project, keyword, credit, export, API, and user limits rather than inferring that any one feature is unlimited. Enterprise’s higher listed price makes verifying the specific included terms particularly important.

Brand Radar AI: evaluate it as a separate need

Brand Radar AI is listed from $199 per month. Treat it as a distinct AI visibility purchase to assess against your goals; the starting price does not by itself establish the exact coverage, usage, or fit for a specific organization.

Which limits should you check before subscribing?

Plan fit is primarily a capacity question. Ahrefs’ official comparison indicates that allowances vary across plans, and the exact numbers are volatile. Before committing, match these dimensions to the work you expect the account to handle:

  • Projects: Count the sites or clients you need to manage and confirm the plan allows them.
  • Tracked keywords: Estimate the number of keyword positions you need monitored, including separate sites or markets where relevant.
  • Historical data: Check how much history the plan exposes if trend analysis or retrospective reporting is part of your workflow.
  • Crawl credits and crawl limits: Confirm the allowance can support the size and audit frequency of your sites.
  • Credits and exports: Review how research usage and data exports are counted; frequent reporting can make these limits material.
  • API access: Verify whether your plan includes the API access and capacity your integrations require.
  • Users: Compare included seats and the cost or availability of additional users if colleagues or clients need access.
  • Tool availability: Check the specific tools and features included, rather than assuming every tier offers the same access.

Existing customers should also inspect their own account. Ahrefs says some customers may be on legacy credit-based subscriptions, so their credit behavior and limits may differ from the current plan comparison. The help center’s plan and pricing explanation is the relevant reference for that distinction.

Is Ahrefs worth it?

Ahrefs is worth considering when you need several SEO research and monitoring workflows in one platform and the current plan limits match your workload. It is less compelling if you only need occasional checks that the free option can cover, or if the paid plan’s usage boundaries would force you to restrict projects, tracking, crawling, or team access. That is a fit assessment, not a claim that Ahrefs outperforms a named competitor: the available evidence does not establish a direct head-to-head test.

TechRadar’s February 2026 review calls attention to premium pricing and caveats, which is useful independent context, but it does not replace comparing current allowances with your own use. The decisive check is whether the workflows and capacities you will regularly use justify the subscription price at the tier that actually includes them.

Does Ahrefs have an affiliate program?

On June 12, 2023, Ahrefs CMO Tim Soulo wrote, “Ahrefs does not have an affiliate program.” He said the company had discontinued its prior program and had no plans to relaunch it at that time. That is a dated statement, not proof of the company’s status in September 2026; the cited material does not confirm a current public affiliate program or a later relaunch. Read Soulo’s statement.

Ahrefs has separately described creator campaigns promoting its free webmaster tools and said it could partner with creators whose audiences include website operators, content marketers, affiliate marketers, entrepreneurs, and technology professionals. This is a possible direct partnership route, not an affiliate-program offer, and the cited post does not establish current application details or terms. See Ahrefs’ creator-campaign post.
