Ecwid is a hosted ecommerce platform for adding a store to an existing website or launching a standalone storefront with Instant Site. It suits small businesses and solo sellers that want managed hosting without rebuilding a working WordPress, Wix, Weebly or Joomla site. The main buying decisions are catalog size, sales channels, subscriptions, staff access, point-of-sale (POS) needs and whether monthly or annual billing fits your budget.
What is Ecwid?
Ecwid provides a hosted online store that can run by itself or be embedded into a site you already operate. Ecwid describes the second approach this way: “Already have a site that is working for you? No problem, just add an online store to it.” Its tools can add a complete store, product catalog, individual product cards or Buy Now buttons to supported site builders, including WordPress, Wix, Weebly and Joomla.

Ecwid also includes Instant Site with an account. It can serve as a complete storefront, landing page, catalog showcase or simple business-card website, so you do not need a separate hosting provider for the store itself.
Ecwid plans and prices in 2026
Ecwid’s official lineup is Starter, Venture, Business and Unlimited. The USD prices below come from Ecwid’s pricing-change notice effective March 2, 2026. Annual figures are monthly equivalents when paid for a full year in advance; taxes are excluded. Prices can vary by billing country or app-store purchase route, so check the live checkout and comparison table before subscribing.

| Unlimited | $149 | $119 | Unlimited | High-volume catalogs, unlimited staff or POS integration |
Ecwid says paid subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. The company’s comparison table lists zero “Fees charged per sale by Ecwid” on all four plans. That means Ecwid does not add its own transaction fee; payment processors, marketplaces, taxes and other third parties may still charge separately.
What each Ecwid plan is for
Starter: up to 10 products
Starter is intended for a small catalog of up to 10 products. Because the March 2, 2026 notice says Starter pricing remains unchanged without stating the amount in that notice, verify both its current price and included features on Ecwid’s live plan page.
Venture: up to 100 products
Venture raises the catalog limit to 100 products and is the practical starting point for many solo sellers who need more than a handful of items. Ecwid associates higher tiers with capabilities such as social selling; confirm the exact Venture allocation before relying on a particular channel or app.
Business: up to 2,500 products
Business is aimed at a substantially larger catalog. Ecwid describes this tier as adding marketplace selling, subscriptions, two staff accounts, product reviews, a multilingual catalog and abandoned-cart recovery. Those feature assignments can change, so use the current comparison table when making a purchase decision.

Unlimited: no stated product cap
Unlimited is for merchants that exceed the Business catalog ceiling, need unlimited staff access or require POS integration. “Unlimited” refers to the product limit shown by Ecwid; it does not eliminate fees or policies imposed by payment providers, marketplaces or other connected services.
Which features matter most?
Catalog size
The hard capacity breakpoints are 10, 100, 2,500 and unlimited products. Include variations, digital items and hidden products in your own catalog count, and leave room for growth rather than choosing a tier that is already near its ceiling.
Social and marketplace selling
Ecwid supports selling beyond a storefront, but channel availability depends on plan and may change. Business is described as adding marketplace selling, while social-selling tools are associated with higher plans. Check the live channel list for the specific networks and marketplaces available in your country.
Digital goods and subscriptions
If you sell downloads or recurring products, verify the digital-product and subscription rules before upgrading. Ecwid specifically describes subscriptions as a Business-level addition; recurring billing can also be affected by the payment gateway you select.

Business includes two staff accounts according to Ecwid’s plan description. Unlimited is described as including unlimited staff. Business also adds multilingual catalog support and reviews, useful when several people manage products or when you sell across language markets.
Abandoned-cart recovery
Ecwid lists abandoned-cart recovery among the Business additions. Confirm the current automation limits, message settings and any regional restrictions in the help documentation before treating it as a complete retention system.
Point of sale
Unlimited is the tier Ecwid associates with POS integration. Hardware, card processing and local compliance remain separate considerations, so price the complete in-person setup rather than the subscription alone.
Support
Support availability is another plan-selection axis. Compare the current support channels and hours for each tier, particularly if your store will operate outside Ecwid’s standard support hours.
How to choose an Ecwid plan
- Count your products. Choose the first tier whose published limit comfortably exceeds your current catalog.
- List every selling channel. Mark whether you need only an embedded store, social channels, marketplaces or in-person POS.
- Check special requirements. Subscriptions, digital products, multilingual listings, reviews, abandoned-cart recovery and staff access can move you to a higher tier.
- Compare billing totals. Annual billing lowers the monthly equivalent in Ecwid’s March 2026 USD notice but requires paying the year in advance; monthly billing costs more over twelve months while preserving flexibility.
- Confirm the live table. Feature assignments, prices, taxes and country-specific availability can change after this review was prepared.
Ecwid’s strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Works as a standalone Instant Site or alongside an existing website.
- Clear catalog tiers from 10 products to no stated limit.
- Ecwid itself lists zero transaction fees on every plan.
- Higher tiers cover subscriptions, marketplace selling, multilingual catalogs, staff accounts, reviews, abandoned-cart recovery and POS use cases.
- Hosted infrastructure removes the need to manage store-server updates.
Limitations and cautions
- The Starter price was not stated in Ecwid’s March 2, 2026 notice and must be checked live.
- Annual prices are commitments paid upfront, not month-to-month charges.
- Taxes and third-party payment or marketplace fees are not included in the advertised subscription amounts.
- Exact feature placement can change, and country or app-store billing routes may show different prices.
- Unlimited products do not mean unlimited external services, storage, payment volume or marketplace permissions.
Does Ecwid have an affiliate program?
Do not assume that Ecwid’s merchant affiliate feature is a publisher referral program. Ecwid offers merchants tools to recruit affiliates for their own stores; its article describes that feature as available on Venture, Business and Unlimited. That is different from confirmed eligibility, commission rates or tracking terms for publishers reviewing Ecwid. Verify any current partner application and payout rules directly with Ecwid before adding a tracked recommendation.
Ecwid verdict
Ecwid is a strong fit when you want hosted commerce without replacing an existing website. Starter and Venture cover small catalogs, Business is the more capable tier for subscriptions, staff and marketplace-oriented growth, and Unlimited targets large catalogs, unlimited staff or POS integration. The deciding step is to match your required channels and operational features against Ecwid’s live comparison table, then compare the total annual commitment—including taxes and third-party processing costs—with competing platforms.
