What Norton 360 is
Norton 360 combines real-time malware and ransomware protection with privacy and identity features. Depending on the plan, country and device, the bundle can include Secure VPN, Dark Web Monitoring, parental controls, cloud backup, SafeCam, Password Manager, Scam Protection and Deepfake Protection.
Norton says every Norton 360 plan includes antivirus, Scam Protection, Password Manager and Deepfake Protection. Compared with its simpler AntiVirus Plus product, Norton 360 adds Secure VPN and Dark Web Monitoring.

AV-TEST: perfect scores in March–April 2026
In AV-TEST’s Windows 11 evaluation of Norton 360 version 26.2/26.3, Norton received 6.0/6.0 for protection, 6.0/6.0 for performance and 6.0/6.0 for usability. The lab recorded 100% detection in both its zero-day real-world threat test and its prevalent-malware reference set.

AV-TEST awards a maximum of 18 points overall; 17.5 points is enough for its Top Product designation. Norton’s 18-point result is therefore a laboratory result at the top of this test period, not a guarantee that every computer will feel identical.
AV-Comparatives: Advanced+ in a separate test
AV-Comparatives’ March 2026 consumer malware test examined 20 security products against 10,000 recent malware samples and considered protection and false positives. Norton was among the products receiving the lab’s Advanced+ distinction.

These results are useful as a cross-check, but the two laboratories use different samples, scoring rules and test procedures. Their ratings should be read as complementary rather than combined into one universal ranking.

Does Norton slow down a PC?
AV-TEST gave Norton 6.0/6.0 for performance in its March–April 2026 Windows 11 test, indicating no significant lab penalty under that test’s conditions. That does not mean every installation will have zero impact: older hardware, large scans, competing security software and background backup or browser features can change the experience.
Install only one real-time antivirus product. If you move from another suite, remove its active protection first and restart when prompted; running two real-time engines can create conflicts and extra system load.

Platform and feature limitations
- Feature availability differs by plan, country, operating system and hardware.
- Norton documents that Cloud Backup, Parental Control and SafeCam are unavailable on some Mac, Android and Windows S-mode configurations.
- Automatic Deepfake Protection requires Windows 11, a supported browser and specified CPU and RAM requirements.
- Early-access Genie deepfake support is limited to English-language YouTube videos.
- Tom’s Guide describes Norton as feature-rich and dependable, but reports that some protections are Windows-only and that Ask Genie can feel slow or inconsistent.
Norton 360 versus Windows Defender
Windows’ built-in protection is a reasonable starting point when you only need baseline malware defense and do not want another subscription. Norton 360 is the more comprehensive option when you specifically want a VPN, password manager, scam defenses, Dark Web Monitoring or optional parental and identity tools in one dashboard.
There is no single winner for every user. Choose by the features you will actually use, the number and type of devices you own, and the total cost after renewal rather than by antivirus branding alone.

Renewal, cancellation and value
Norton subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel them. Norton also warns that the renewal price may be higher than the introductory price. Record the renewal date and price when you subscribe, then review the account before the first term ends.
Norton’s official page documents a 100% Virus Protection Promise, subject to the subscription’s terms and conditions. Treat that promise as a contractual benefit with eligibility requirements, not as a guarantee that infections are impossible.
