To capture an entire webpage—including content below the visible screen—use a browser’s full-page command, not the normal screenshot shortcut. Firefox desktop has Save full page, Chrome desktop has DevTools’ Capture full size screenshot, and Safari on iPhone offers Full Page after you take a screenshot. Choose PDF instead when you need a paginated document for printing or sharing.
What “full-screen” means
A standard screenshot records only the current viewport. A full-page (sometimes called full-screen or scrolling) screenshot stitches the page’s content from top to bottom into one tall image. It can include menus, articles, tables and sections that are not currently visible.
Very long pages produce very tall files. If the result is intended to be printed, annotated or read as separate pages, a PDF workflow is usually more practical than one extremely tall PNG or JPEG.
Firefox on desktop: Save full page
Firefox provides the most direct desktop workflow through its built-in screenshot tool.

- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
- WORK SEAMLESSLY: This sleek monitor is virtually bezel-free on three sides, so the screen looks even bigger for the viewer. This minimalistic design also allows for seamless multi-monitor setups that enhance your workflow and boost productivity
- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
- Open the webpage in Firefox and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and select Take Screenshot.
- In the screenshot toolbar, select Save full page.
- Choose where to save the image, or copy it if Firefox presents a copy option.
The capture includes content below the current viewport. Pages that load images only while you scroll may need a moment to finish loading before you capture them. If Take Screenshot is missing from the context menu, open Developer Tools and use its screenshot controls; Mozilla documents both routes.
Chrome on desktop: Capture full size screenshot
Chrome’s documented route uses Developer Tools. The exact menu wording can change between Chrome releases, so treat this as the current workflow rather than a guarantee that every version has identical labels.
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Open Developer Tools by right-clicking the page and choosing Inspect (or use your usual DevTools shortcut).
- Open the DevTools command menu: press Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+P on Mac.
- Type
screenshotin the command menu. - Choose Capture full size screenshot.
Chrome saves the resulting image through the browser’s normal download process. The workflow above is described in a Chrome Help Community answer rather than a formal Chrome product-help article, so commands may move or be renamed in a later version. If the command is not listed, update Chrome, confirm DevTools is focused, and search for “full size screenshot” instead.
Safari on iPhone: Full Page
Safari on iPhone can capture an entire webpage from the screenshot preview. Apple documents both image and PDF outcomes, although the controls shown can depend on your iOS version and the page context.
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the side button and Home button together.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail if it appears.
- At the top of the preview, select Full Page.
- Use the share controls to save it as an image, or choose Save PDF to Files when that option is shown.
The Full Page tab is intended for webpages viewed in Safari. If it does not appear, confirm that you opened the page in Safari and try the capture again after the page finishes loading.

Make the capture readable and complete
Let dynamic content finish
News feeds, dashboards and image-heavy pages may render progressively. Wait until the visible area is stable before starting the capture. If a page uses lazy-loaded images, scroll through it once first; otherwise lower sections may remain blank in the final image.
Control overlays and consent dialogs
Cookie notices, newsletter forms and chat bubbles can cover important content. Close them before capturing when the page allows it. A browser screenshot records what is displayed; it does not automatically remove overlays.

Check the final boundaries
Open the saved image and inspect the top, middle and bottom. Look for clipped fixed headers, missing images, repeated sticky navigation or a footer cut off at the edge. A tall image can be difficult to inspect at full resolution, so zoom in on text before sharing it.
Pick image or PDF deliberately
- Use an image for a visual reference, design review or a single-page web archive.
- Use PDF when readers need page breaks, printing, text selection or a file that is easier to paginate.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. It accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor, then removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before the capture; each cleanup step can be disabled.
Only clean shots are billed. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and each response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.

Troubleshooting full-page captures
Only the visible screen was saved
You used the operating system’s ordinary screenshot shortcut or a browser’s visible-area mode. Repeat the platform-specific full-page command: Firefox’s Save full page, Chrome’s Capture full size screenshot, or Safari’s Full Page.
The lower half is blank
Images or components may be lazy-loaded. Wait for the page to settle and scroll through it before capturing. For automated work, use a wait-for-selector, delay or network-idle condition rather than an immediate capture.
A popup or chat widget covers the page
Dismiss the overlay manually, hide its selector where the browser tool permits, or use ScreenshotNeo’s cleanup and hide-selector options. Consent handling, popups and chat removal happen before its shot.

Chrome has no screenshot command
Make sure Developer Tools has focus, reopen the command menu with the correct operating-system shortcut, and search for “screenshot.” Chrome labels can differ by release; updating the browser may restore the command.
The page is too tall to use
Save a PDF when you need readable pages, or capture a specific element instead of the entire document. ScreenshotNeo can capture one CSS-selected element, resize images and produce PDFs with paper size, margins, orientation and page ranges.
The result shows a bot check, timeout or blank page
Do not treat that file as a valid webpage capture. Check the URL, authentication and wait conditions. With ScreenshotNeo, bot checks, blank pages, timeouts and failed loads are marked in the response and are not billed.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesReliability and cost considerations
Manual browser captures are free and convenient for an occasional page, but they depend on the current browser UI and the state of your session. They are harder to repeat exactly across many URLs or devices. An API is more suitable for scheduled archives, documentation builds and batches; control the viewport, device, timing, headers, cookies and cache behavior explicitly. Keep credentials out of public code, and inspect response headers or HTTP status before storing an automated result.
FAQ
Is a full-page screenshot the same as a screen recording?
No. It is a still image (or, on supported workflows, a PDF) assembled from the webpage, not a video of scrolling.

Can I capture a page that requires a login?
A browser can capture content available in your signed-in session. An automated service needs the appropriate cookies, headers or Authorization values and permission to access that page.
Why would I choose PDF over PNG?
PDF is preferable when page breaks, printing or text selection matter. PNG, JPEG and WebP are better when you need a single visual asset.

Does a full-page capture include content hidden behind a collapsed section?
Usually not. The tool captures what the page renders; expand accordions, tabs or menus first if their contents must appear.
Will a fixed navigation bar repeat throughout the image?
It can. Fixed elements may be rendered at multiple scroll positions, so inspect the finished image and hide or dismiss the element when possible.
What is the quickest option for one occasional capture?
Use Firefox’s Save full page on desktop, Chrome’s DevTools command on desktop, or Safari’s Full Page on iPhone.
